Bill Hayes, who has portrayed Doug Williams on the long running NBC (now Peacock) daytime drama Days of our Lives passed away on Friday, January 12th, at the age of 98!
Bill has portrayed the character of Doug off and on since 1970 on the show.
His real life Susan Seaforth Hayes has portrayed his wife Julie on the show. She first appeared on the show in 1968 and is the only cast member to have appeared during all 7 decades of the program.
Bill and Susan were paired up in 1970 on the show, fell in love in real life and were married in 1974. Their characters were first married in 1976 on the show.
I only learned of his passing yesterday, one full week after he died.
