The last surviving cast member from the 1950s comedy series "The Honeymooners" passed away at age 99 yesterday, Saturday, January 13th 2024.
Joyce Randolph, who played opposite Art Carney's Ed Norton as his wife Trixie (Thelma) Norton passed away in her sleep.
Along with Art Carney, Joyce appeared with the great one Jackie Gleason as Ralph Kramden, a Brooklyn bus drive and his long-suffering wife Alice, portrayed brilliantly by Audrey Meadows.
This "fab 4" cast ranks right up there with Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance and William Frawley from "I Love Lucy".
Joyce had been the last living link to these type of programs.
So often I would joke with my wife that I wanted to invite Joyce over to our house for dinner as she could watch herself on my Honeymooners DVD collection.
It is mind boggling how many famous people in recent memory have died at age 99. It started with Betty White on New Year's Eve 2022, Bob Barker last August.
This perhaps might be one reason why CBS did a recent tribute to the still living legendary Dick Van Dyke who is currently age 98.
In December of 2023, Norman Lear, arguably the single greatest producer and creator of television sit coms passed away but he was 101!
Ms. Randolph turned 99 on October 21st of last year, so she was still 9 months and change away from hitting 100.
Thank you for all of the great memories Joyce. May you rest in eternal peace.
