Friday, November 22nd, 1963, 35th President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, was assassinated.
Thankfully this is the last time in our nation's history that a President was assassinated, although two attempts were made on President Ford and one on President Reagan.
From Abe Lincoln's assassination in 1865 to President Garfield's assassination in 1881, 16 years had passed.
From Garfield to McKinley, who was assassinated in September 1901, 20 years have since passed.
And from 1901 - 1963, 62 years had passed.
Here's hoping such an awful event will never happen again in our history, and thank goodness it's now been 60 years and counting since the last successful attempt on a sitting U.S. President's life.

It doesn't seem like 60 years ago.

For me either, but then that happened 3 years and 27 days before my birth.
