And on the subject of "Rest In Peace", back in 2003 a funeral company in Brazil released a controversial television ad because their motto said, and I quote: "Our clients have never come back to complain." (fade in with 5 notes) Back now with an extremely close and tight match, Kourtney with $45, while Jake and our 3 day champion George are just one question behind at $40. (ding dong) And it's time for another Fame Game puzzle ya'll! Again, no dollar value attached to this, just the right to select from our Fame Game board. 8 numbers left on the board, there's a $5 a $10 and now we've added a $15 money card and those could prove to be the difference here. We are looking for a famous event this time players. This puzzle consists of 3 words, 16 total letters in the puzzle. Please PM to me your bids as to how few letters you believe you will require to solve it. Minimum bids are 0, the maximum bid in this case would be 15. Also, please include with your bids a buzz code from 1 to 100, in the event that two or more of you make the same bid. Here now is your Fame Game puzzle: Bids and buzz codes are due in my in box no later than 7:15am EST on Sunday, December 3rd.

George, you were the only one to PM me with a bid and a buzz code by the required deadline. And since neither of your opponents have placed anything in the vacation thread, you automatically will get to go to the Fame Game board. I will not reveal the puzzle answer, rather, I will reuse it for a later episode, should this series continue. Okay champ, which number is calling to you?

Number 7 it shall be. Frank Caliendo: And behind the number seven we have... A mini-fridge. (prize music) From Frigidaire comes this compact mini-fridge, great for your home, the office, or for dormitory use at college. A really cool prize by Frigidaire! And that is valued at $453. You have that and the barbecue as well, so you're running hot and cold here today champ. And George you've already won close to $4,000 in cash and prizes today already, and speaking of $4,000, that's how much today's Instant Cash jackpot is worth, and we'll see which one of you, or perhaps more of you, will get a crack at that. Right now, we have 3 more questions. Deadline for PMing me the answers and your buzz codes will be 9:35am EST on Tuesday, December 5th. Should only George PM me again, I will end up declaring this match a forfeit by the other two players and George will win the match by default. And as always players, if you're not sure of an answer, you have the option to say PASS in your PM to me. Here we go... 1 - What famous speech began with the words "Four score and seven years ago"? 2 - What are the names of the Nursery Rhyme duo who went up the hill to fetch a pail of water? 3 - On Halloween night 1938, a radio broadcast called "War of the Worlds" was narrated by which famous actor?

1 - What famous speech began with the words "Four score and seven years ago"? Jake - The Gettysburg Address. Correct and you pull into a tie with Kourtney at 45. 2 - What are the names of the Nursery Rhyme duo who went up the hill to fetch a pail of water? Jake - Jack and Jill. And that's 2 in a row now for you Jake, moving into first with $50. 3 - On Halloween night 1938, a radio broadcast called "War of the Worlds" was narrated by which famous actor? Jake - Orson Welles. Right and that's 3 in a row now for Jake, pulling out in front by $10 at 55! (instant bargain chimes) (cash register) Instant Cash time and Jake, you are in the lead by $10, and now we'll see if you'll get to play for this. Three boxes, one has $250 in cash, another $500 and one today has a jackpot of... Four-Thousand dollars! A nice bundle of dough there Jake. One of these letters says "NO SALE" if you choose that, you'll remain at $55 but not have a chance at any money. One is "GIVEAWAY", pick that and you'll stay at $55 but get to try to find the $4,000. The other 2 say "PLAY" which means we will deduct the amount of your lead from your score, you lead by $10 currently. Jake select a letter in SALE please.

And you will... Get to play for it! $10 will come off of your score, you'll be down to $45 and tied with Kourtney. The worst you can do is win 25 times that $10 here, but let's win the $4,000 Jake. Which box do you choose, 1, 2 or 3?

Jake asks for box #2, in a somewhat uncertain tone... If we have a WIN! card there, you'll be $4,000 richer. And let's open it up and discover that Jake has won... $4,000! (incidental win music playing) A nice chunk of change Jake! Way to go! The Instant Cash Jackpot will reset to $2,500 for our next episode. Meanwhile we have a very tight match here, and all three players have won something which is great. Back with three great players after these words of interest! Nice going Jake!

(fade in with a 5 note sequence) And welcome back in to $ale of the Century. Three day champion George is trying for his fourth consecutive win but is trailing by $5 at the moment. Players, we'll be playing three more questions, then one final Fame Game puzzle for a crack at a possible $25 money card. After that will be our seven question speed round. George, as the reigning champion, gets an automatic berth into playing that final head to head round. Kourtney and Jake, the one of you two who has the lower score after our final Fame Game will be done for the day. Right now here are the next three questions for your consideration. You will have until 7:00am EST on Wednesday, December 13th to PM me with your buzz codes and your answers. As always, if you do not know an answer, just say "PASS", for an incorrect answer if you ring in first will cost you $5. Here are the questions: 1 - Which Major League Baseball team has won an astounding 27 World Series? 2 - For decades, which legendary comic actor hosted the annual Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Telethon? 3 - Because of the striped shirts worn by them, what wild animal are NFL referees sometimes referred to as being?

Which Major League Baseball team has won an astounding 27 World Series? Jake - New York Yankees. Correct and Jake is back up to $50. For decades, which legendary comic actor hosted the annual Labor Day Muscular Dystrophy Telethon? George - Jerry Lewis. Right for $5 and you move up to $45. And Kourtney, that proved a break for you believe it or not that George had a closer buzz code, as your answer was Jerry LEE Lewis, and that would have been counted as wrong, as Jerry Lee Lewis was a famous singer and not the same as just plain old Jerry Lewis. I never thought I could ever refer to zany Jerry Lewis as "plain" and "old". He's reprimand me for sure! Because of the striped shirts worn by them, what wild animal are NFL referees sometimes referred to as being? George - Officials Oh no (buzzer) We were looking for the name of an animal, and that animal was Zebras as they also have black and white stripes. That will cost you $5 and knock you back down to $40, sorry about that champ. (DING DONG) And that sound means time for our third and FINAL fame game, we've added a $25 money card to the board. Kourtney, you have to win this Fame Game and find a money card if you hope to play in the final Speed Round against George. This time we need a TITLE. Three words, 18 letters in all. Players, I need you to PM to me two things. As we are getting closer to Christmas, I will relax the 48 hour deadline and make it 96 hours instead. I need you to PM to me two things, 1st is your bid as to how few letters you think you will need to solve this puzzle and 2nd is a buzz code, in the event that two or more of you should tie. The deadline to PM me is Tuesday, December 19th at 7:22am EST. I selected that time because Dec 19th is my birthday and I was born at exactly 7:22am.

So far George is the only one who has PMed me his bid and buzz code.
A friendly reminder that due to the holiday season, I'm extending my 48 hour deadline by 48 hours, and the deadline for Kourtney and Jake to message me is by Tuesday, December 19th at 7:22am EST.

George & Jake both bid 5 letters. Jake however came closer with the buzz code. Jake we will reveal 5 letters at random in the puzzle. You will have until 7am EST on Friday, December 22nd to post your answer. A correct answer will guarantee that you and George will face off in the Speed Round. A pass, an incorrect solve or a missed deadline will mean George will be given one addition letter and a chance to solve. Here now are your 5 letters Jake.

That is correct Jake! We already know you'll be playing the final head to head speed round against George, but let's see if you can add to your lead. Seven numbers remaining, we have a 5, a 10, a 15 and now a 25 dollar money card up there, so a better than 50/50 chance of increasing your lead Jake. Which number do you want?

And behind the number 3 we have... Five dollars! (fanfare) It was the smallest one of the four up there, but it could prove to be the difference. Jake you go to $55. For posterity's record, let us reveal where the other three money cards were today. Behind 6 was $10, 4 had $15 and 2 had the big one $25. (fanfare) All three picks made were odd numbers, but it was the even numbers that housed all the big ones. (consolation music begins to play) And before we start the Speed Round, we must sadly bid a fond farewell to you Kourtney. You did pick up the pair of mini TV's valued at $488, and we will pay you $25 per dollar in front of you, so that will be $1,125 in cash. For about 20 minutes worth of game play you're taking home in cash and prizes $1,613 plus about $500 or so worth of parting gifts as well. Happy holidays to you Kourtney and thank you for being with us here on $ale of the Century. (applause) Now the time has come for our head to head Speed Round players. (ding) Seven toss up questions in total, $50 up for grabs in total. The first two questions are worth $5 each, then the remaining question values increase by one dollar each time until the final question worth $10. Jake leads with $55, George is at $40, a $15 gap, but with $50 available it's still anybody's game. With today being December 21st, and with the knowledge that it's a busy time of year for many, I will relax our final deadline. I think it is more than reasonable, especially as neither of you has posted in the vacation thread, to set our Speed Round deadline for Thursday, December 28th at 12 noon EST. That is one week from now, a 7 day deadline for these final 7 questions. Players, be sure to PM to me your answers and your buzz codes no later than 12 noon EST on Thursday, December 28th. And as always, if you do not know an answer, just say PASS, for if you answer incorrectly, the value of that question will be subtracted from your score. Again Jake at 55, champion George at 40. Good luck gentlemen as we begin the Speed Round...now! 1 - $5 What world famous artist painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel? 2 - $5 What type of bears are found in Australia? 3 - $6 According to the song, mares eat oats and does eat oats, but what do little lambs eat? 4 - $7 What four letter word starting with "O" is a woodwind instrument? 5 - $8 The Super Bowl trophy was named after which legendary head coach? 6 - $9 Name the three word title of the Tolstoy book that is 1,444 pages in length. 7 - $10 What is the only U.S. state whose name is one syllable?

George - "War and Peace" Right! 7 - $10 What is the only U.S. state whose name is one syllable? George for the match! George - Maine. That's right! (Winning fanfare) My WORD! What a come from behind victory for you George! An amazing comeback, and we will come back to you in just a moment. (consolation music) Jake, just as George did, you also had ALL the correct answers, it simply was a matter of who was faster on the signaling button. You were truly an outstanding challenger, and you're hardly going away empty handed. You did not pick up any prizes along the way, but you DID win the Instant Cash jackpot of $4,000, and in addition to that and $500 in consolation prizes, we're also going to pay you $25 per dollar on your scoreboard, so another $$1,650 in cash there too. A very nice all cash total of $5,650. Please give a very nice round of applause to Jake Dawes! Happy New Year Jake. And Happy right now to you George, another match win and you have picked up over $3,800 in prizes today already, and now a chance to add another big grand prize to your list. So over the river and through the woods, to the Winner's Board we go! (1988 $ale winner's big money game cue) George, thus far you have won three prizes off of this board, the Jet Ski, the trip to Rio and $10,000 in cash. We still have $15,000 in cash, $25,000 in cash plus a new 2024 Ford Mustang. The first prize you match is the prize you will win and it will only cost you $79 today. George, where do you want to begin today? Select a number please.
