Hi gang, While I do have a lot more word puzzles in my data base, I'd kind of like to save those if possible for future episodes of Scrabble instead. So I came up with another idea, still involving "splits" and making decisions. Two dice would be used for this. The left side in gold, marked A, B and C would always have 1, 2 and 3 hidden somewhere. The right side in green, marked D, E and F would always have 4, 5 and 6 hidden somewhere. One player would select one letter from each side of the board. If their 2 picks total 7, they would win $50 and win control of the current hand being played. If their first 2 picks did NOT total 7, then the player would have the option to select one more remaining letter from the right side of the board to try to get the left and right to add up to 7. If they did so they'd win $25 and control of the hand. If not, the other player would win $0 but would get control of the hand. The first player would also have the option to pass instead, to have the other player try to come up with a total of 7 instead. Basically it would boil down to a 50/50 chance if the first 2 picks did not total 7. I hope I explained this clearly as it's 533am and I had a semi rough night's sleep, some mild ill effects from my 2nd shingles vaccine that I got yesterday morning. I'm curious to hear how you like this idea, in lieu of using word puzzles, and also if one or two of you would like to "test run" this idea. Appreciatively, Bill

Thanks Kourtney & George.
Kourtney, I'll have you select two dice, one from the left side, one from the right, please call them out by letter.

Let’s try A D

And that gets you... 2 and 4, total of 6. Now at this point, you would have the option to select one more remaining letter (from either side of the board) or you could pass to your opponent and have them select instead. How would you like to play it?

I will play it and go with B.

If B is a 3, you'll have a total of 7, win $25 and have control over the hand. Otherwise, your opponent will win control of the hand. B this time is... A one! So sorry about that Kourtney! So what do you all think of my using this device instead of word puzzles to determine control of the hands? I still intend on keeping the Hi Lo Toss Ups to determine control of the final card.
