Thanks all for your patience as we now start our fifth episode of Three on a Match. johnnyb -- John Bergman, our current champion, is $78,200 away from $250,000 in total winnings. When anyone racks up $250,000 in total cash winnings, the player retires from the show and has the money quadrupled to at least $1,000,000. Could you stop John's winning ways? Anyone who has not opposed John on 3OAM is eligible to play this qualifying question. Closest to the right answer, high or low, gets to play. Before the show, a production assistant drew one Bingo ball from a standard 75-ball American Bingo cage -- then spun an American roulette wheel once. We multiplied the Bingo number with the Roulette number and reached what product?
(Hints: The best possible product, 75 times 36, is 2700. In the event the roulette spin was a single zero or a double zero, the product is 0.)

Okay, before we reveal the product, let's reveal the ball drawn... ...under the O -- 65. Now for the spin... ...23 Red. So, 65 multiplied by 23 gives us a product of... ("Celebrity Sweepstakes" tabulation sfx) ...1495. Who came the closest? 1500 pathfinder20 Sharp shootin', Kourtney! Just off by 5. Three on a Match coming up in a bit.

Well, I am a shift leader at a national sandwich chain. I am from southern Georgia. I like learning about different languages and cultures, collecting stationery and cigar boxes, listening to music and playing mock game shows as well.

Nice to have you here from Georgia, Kourtney. Good luck to you both, players. This is how we play Three on a Match. First, let's start by opening up our category board. Let's Go Back to the '50s, Reality and Romance and General Info. With each category are five riddlegrams. In each riddlegram, we take a common expression and change the wording. What our players must do is give us the original phrase or title. Some examples from a previous show: "Stroll as if You're a Native of Cairo" is another way of expressing the song title "Walk Like an Egyptian". "Cease at the ten-cent piece" is another way of saying "stop on a dime". Now, each riddlegram is worth one point. Chime in with the right answer and the point's yours. If you miss, the point goes to your opponent. Player with the higher point total in the showdown wins the cash award assigned to the chosen category. And, John, since you're the champion, you'll choose our first category, please.

(time passes) (buzz) No pick in time -- so we go to General Info by default. (ding)And it's worth $40. Now, remember, each point you score is worth $10. Remember, we're looking for the actual phrase or title of the following. 1. Do not optically scan that free stallion at its kisser 2. That buyer of goods and services shall unceasingly be correct
3. "Adoration Plus Rap Music: Florida's Magic City"
4. Ye failed to utter, "Mommy, can this person?"
5. "Domestic Mockery's Trip"
Kourtney and John, for each riddlegram, please respond with a buzz code from 1-100 and your answer.

Do not optically scan that free stallion at its kisser (Kourtney rings in)Doug: Kourtney? Kourtney: Do not look a gift horse in the mouth. Doug: Uhhh -- (judge activates bell; then explains) -- okay, sounds fair. I have "Never look a gift horse in the mouth" on my card. But, Kourtney, because we started "Do not", it was best to start your response with "Never" or another negative word. So, and we did this earlier, we'll award 1 point to each player. pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Now, we'll proceed from here. But should this particular ruling affect the outcome of the game in any way, we'll make sure the losing party does not suffer a strike.
So with that, we'll continue with this.
That buyer of goods and services shall unceasingly be correct
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: The Customer is always right
Doug: And that's right on.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Kourtney with a 2 to 1 lead. Next one.
Adoration Plus Rap Music: Florida's Magic City"
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Love and Hip Hop: Miami
Doug: That's it.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: On to the next...
Ye failed to utter, "Mommy, can this person?"
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: You didn’t say Mother May I.
Doug: That's it.
(scattered cheers)
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Kourtney, you've clinched the showdown. But I have one more riddlegram. If you chime in and answer it correctly, that's a perfect score and you'll win $50 in addition to $40 from the category and $10 a point. So you might be going to the grid after this one.
"Domestic Mockery's Trip"
(time passes)
(buzz)
Doug: So much for going to the grid. Anyone in the audience know?
(a lot of people say "National Lampoon's Vacation")
Doug: Yes -- "National Lampoon's Vacation". And given the confines of the riddlegram, we also would've accepted "National Lampoon's European Vacation" and even "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation".
Doug: But, Kourtney picks up $40 for winning the showdown. We now add $10 for every point score.
Doug: Kourtney's up to $80. (audience cheers) If you scored at least $10 more or a free box, we'd offer a trip to the grid. But since you don't have enough to go there, we go back to the category board and bring in a new subject.
Doug: Grab Bag. Kourtney, you get to pick.

Turning the clock back to the 1950s for... (ding)...$80 and two free boxes. They will help anyone. These riddlegrams lead to titles of songs that were hits between 1950 and 1959 inclusive. "Rise and Shine Young Miss Essman"
"Crossbar Hotel Boulder"
"That Volunteer State Dance"
"Tome About Adoration"
"Melody, Melody, Melody"
Kourtney and John, for each riddlegram, please respond with a buzz code from 1-100 and your answer.

"Rise and Shine Young Miss Essman"
22 pathfinder20 -- johnnyb 66 random.org(Kourtney rings in)Doug: Kourtney? Kourtney: Wake Up Little Susie Doug: That's it. pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Next from the jukebox...
"Crossbar Hotel Boulder"

(John rings in)
Doug: John?
John: "Jailhouse Rock"
Doug: That's correct.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Tied at 1. Next one...
"That Volunteer State Dance"
75 pathfinder20 08 johnnyb 19 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John?
John: "Tennessee Waltz"
(judge activates bell; then explains)
(obvious edit)
Doug: All right, let me explain what's going on.
I have "The Tennessee Waltz" on my card. But our researchers say the original title was "Tennessee Waltz" without the "The" -- even though the original title came before 1950.
Patti Page had a hit with "The Tennessee Waltz" in 1950. A re-release of the song later in the decade was titled "Tennessee Waltz" -- without the "The". So, John, you get the point.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: And we go on to the next riddlegram.
"Tome About Adoration"
-- pathfinder20 81 johnnyb 41 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John.
John: "Book Of Love"
(judge activates bell; then explains)
(obvious edit)
Doug: The judge is earning his paycheck today. (scattered laughter from crowd) "Book Of Love" is an acceptable title. It's also been expressed as "(Who Wrote) The Book of Love" and "The Book of Love". So, the point's yours, John.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: As is the showdown -- but let's see who gets this last point -- because every $10 counts.
"Melody, Melody, Melody"
48 pathfinder20 17 johnnyb 89 random.org
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: "Music, Music, Music"
Doug: Right, right, right.
(audience cheers)
Doug: A respectable 3-2 showing -- but this showdown belongs to John. We just added $80 to the champ's total. Let's now add $10 for every point.
Doug: Kourtney's up to $100. But John, you have $120...
Doug: ...*plus* two free boxes to consider. If you want to use them, you must go to the grid for the win now. If you decline, the freebies go away.
Do you want to go for the win now?
(audience shouts suggestions)

John: Let's do it. (audience cheers)Doug: Very well. So let's put $120 and the two freebies on account. (ding)Doug: You must drain the money to less than $20 before you can deal with the free picks. *And* I will tell you that the Take Away cards are back. It's Friday. It's payday. We'd like to end the week with a big winner. Let's see what happens John: $20 on the Blue. (ding) (audience cheers)Doug: And there's a Take Away card. A friendly reminder -- "no match" does not get in the way of Take Away cards. So you will find one in the middle column and one in the right column. And, as always, anytime your first three picks match, that's an instant match for $50,000. So with that, continue.

(buzz) (audience groans)Another cat. Sorry about that. Could we see where at least the third Take Away was, please? Just above -- yellow. Well, Kourtney, you liked that. Players, before we bring in a new category, I have an announcement to make. Turns out there's some gray area over "Tennessee Waltz" and "The Tennessee Waltz", its place in music history, and where it ranked as a particular title on the charts. So, because of this irregularity, the runner-up in this game will not incur a strike. (audience cheers)Powers that be just want to be safe than sorry. So with that -- let's bring in a new category. The Anime Within. (scattered laughter and cheers) With *that*, John, please pick a category.

Let's see what's in the middle. (dings; audience cheers)Woah -- $60 *and* a doubler. This means *all* the dollar values in this category are doubled. The winner of this showdown will actually win $120. Kourtney, a heads up, if you win the showdown, you'd have at least $200 in your podium. Rules say you'd have to go to the grid for the win. And also keep in mind each point is worth $20 a point. So, John might have to go to the board if the champ scores enough points. The solution to each riddlegram is the title of a reality show where dating or marriage, perhaps both, is part of the show's focus. 1. "Adoration Archipelago"
2. "That Unmarried Guy"
3. "Old MacDonald Desires One Mrs."
4. "Swindlers"
5. "Adore This Person, Don't Adore This Person"
Kourtney and John, for each riddlegram, please respond with a buzz code from 1-100 and your answer.
