At the risk of sounding like announcer Don Morrow at the beginning of an episode of "The Challengers"...
Today is Monday, September 4th, 2023.
51 years ago today, on Monday, September 4th, 1972, three game shows, all of which are still played and celebrated here at Net Game Central, first aired on the CBS Television network.
At 10am EST it was Jack Barry and "The Joker's Wild".
At 10:30am EST, it was "The NEW Price is Right" with the now recently late, but always great, Bob Barker hosting.
And at 11:00am, it was Blackjack with a brain "Gambit", hosted by Wink Martindale.
This of course also marks the 51st birthday of Any Number, Bonus Game and Double Prices, all three of which are still played to this very day.
And tomorrow will be Grocery Game's 51st birthday.
For the first 3 seasons Price was only a 30 minute show, no big wheel.
During the very first week of episodes, only 5 pricing games were in the rotation, the four I mentioned plus Bullseye "I", a car game that proved impossible to win and was scrapped early on in the show's run.
The following Monday, September 11th 1972, a much happier anniversary associated with that date, the Clock Game debuted and is also still played to this very day.
And I must say that I feel extremely blessed in this life, one that I've lived for nearly 57 years now.
I feel blessed to have my family, my job which I love, improving health which I have been working on more this year, and also grateful not only for the wonderful world of game shows both past and present, but to be able to live out a childhood dream vicariously here on these boards, presenting various games to you all, and sharing with so many of you who have a real passion for the genre that is game shows.
I appreciate each and every one of you here, and I shall be forever in debt to John Bergman who first reached out to me many moons ago to make me aware of this site after Big Jon's site went down.
I have been hosting online games off and on since the summer of 2007, and hope to be able to continue to do so for a great many more years.
Thank you one and all!
