It was the first new soap opera that was one hour long. It was also the first daytime drama to specify one of the actors as the "star".
Texas lasted about 29 months on NBC, being cancelled on Friday, December 31, 1982, along with a much longer daytime NBC drama "The Doctors".
Replacing these 90 minutes of programming on Monday, January 3rd were $ale of the Century, Hit Man & Just Men.
