I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE NFL HAS TO MAKE A BIGGER MESS OF DEFLATEGATE! They suspended Tom Brady for four games, fined the Patriots $1,000,000, and took out one first round draft pick for 2016 and one fourth round draft pick for 2017. It was the NFL that should have checked the balls in the first place and made a mockery out of everything.

Tom Brady's been suspended without pay. Now he can empathize with Brian Williams. Hmm.... I wonder if I should get Tom to host an episode of $ale. ....Nah, too many comparisons to Rolf.

If there's one thing I always say: Innocent until proven guilty.

The New England Patriots cheating scandals go back over 30 years. In a game they hosted in the snow, they had a convict who was on a work furlough program plough an area clear for the Patriots field goal kicker to be able to kick the winning field goal. Final score Patriots 3 Dolphins 0. Don Shula raised holy heck over that and to this day he is miffed. The Dolphins had a great many calls go their way during home games in the Orange Bowl in Miami back in the day however.
To me, the big deal about this "deflategate" is the fact that it was a championship game, regardless of who the participants were. That it is the Patriots, and that they have had a precedent of cheating in other ways, only further makes me detest Belichick and Brady. And to think in 2001, the Patriots were the underdogs and the darlings of the league. How times have changed.
For my money, Joe Montana was the best quarterback ever, and I'm not a fan of his or of the 49ers. Brady's "legacy" will forever be tainted by this scandal.

Leaf, I think you might want to hear this. I was thinking that the cold weather must have had something to do with the deflated balls. Since they are inflated like tires, in cold weather, the pressure has to drop, and in hot weather, it has to be go up. The problem is I cannot tell without a good sample of how heavy a NFL ball is.

NFL behavior has sucked for quite a while actually, and it starts at the head, namely the Commissioner.
I've not watched the last 2 years for many reasons. Seems unlikely I will watch much this year either.

Seems unlikely I will watch much this year either. I agree whole-heartedly. My interest in the football has been waning, largely because of Roger Goodell. He jumped the gun in sending messages to Tom Brady and Ray Rice and look what happened. What makes it worse is it doesn't excuse either of them for their actions.

Kevin, Ray's actions were inexcusable indeed. Tom's were something I was not sure about that and that was why I was enraged in the first place. But if there was one thing, all these scandals have plagued the NFL especially this one are scaring me. Now with the courts against Goodell, I am worry that things are starting to fall apart more than ever now that the owners are about to rebel.

I myself wouldn't mind seeing the owners rebel against Goodell.
Goodell now has scheduled THREE regular season games to be played in London. There are only 256 regular season games to be played. Factor in if one of the home games that Buffalo plays is still played in Toronto, which I don't know if that is still the case or not, and now you have FOUR regular season games being played outside the United States.
The last time I checked, the N in N.F.L. stood for NATIONAL Football League, not INTERNATIONAL.
All the vendors and other personnel who work for stadiums end up losing out on one home game a year because of this nonsense. If the NFL wants to play pre-season games in London, or even on the moon, that's fine by me, but keep ALL 256 regular season contests HERE in the U.S. of A. WE are the folks who have helped fund this league and help it to grow, far more than any other nation!
No defense is allowed to be played anymore either, due to fear of concussions and endless lawsuits. Do the brave men and women of our military sue the government when they are injured? Do their survivors sue the government when they are killed in action? When people sign up to join the military, especially since 1990 when all the crap with Iraq started up, they have a pretty GOOD idea that they are literally risking their lives.
When athletes CHOOSE, not forced into but CHOOSE to play football, they know, or at least they SHOULD realize the inherent risks involved, especially head injuries/brain trauma. Seems to me the "Safer" they make the game and equipment, the more injuries that take place.
This is why when the likes of Brady and Manning throw for 50+ touchdowns in a season, I put a mental asterisk beside those numbers, since defense is no longer allowed to be played.
Far too many commercials also have more or less led me away from the NFL. Far too much greed by the owners, the players and the TV networks.
I grew up in the 1970s, when the NFL was really awesome and fun. It felt special. It was a once a week thing, plus Monday Night Football on ABC, and those matchups were awesome and interesting!
ESPN's Monday Night Football is at best sub-par. 19 analysts, etc. And the match-ups leave a lot to be desired. This season's schedule looks a bit more promising, however, since I am usually asleep by 7:30pm, I never get to watch these contests anyway.
Add into the mix Thursday Night games every blessed week, save the final week of the season. NFL.com, NFL Network, ESPN, just far too much exposure, and it has taken away the specialness of the NFL for me as a fan.
The true success of any business or entertainment field is the old adage "Leave 'em wantin' more." The NFL USED to do that for me. Now, they no longer do, and all of the above reasons are primarily why.
