Let's see if #3 is lucky for you George. #3 WAS a 3, so unfortunately that wasn't lucky for you George, but for Matt it was. Matt you retain control of the deck. Do you want to keep the next card or pass it to George?

Wow, I was not expecting this next card to be passed. But very well. George if this next card is anything other than a 2 or a 3, you're going to win game 1 of this match. The card that Matt gave to you is... A winner! (Win cue plays) www.dougmorris.net/chain/sfxding.mp3And George that gives you game #1. Matt I'm guessing your intuition was that the next card was going to bust you and/or George, hence your decision to pass it. I'm sorry that didn't work out for you. George, we must take back that insurance marker, as it were, you ended up not needing it after all during this first game of the match. We'll take a time out, get out the next deck and play game 2, right after these words of interest!

(fade into applause and first few notes of the main theme) Welcome back to Split Decision. A quick recap shows that... Our 2 day champion George Cluster won game 1 of today's match and has $875 so far. Matt Ringgenberg is challenging him and although he lost that first game, he has $850 already with perhaps more to come. George, that insurance marker from game one has been taken back. Insurance markers no longer carry over from one game to the next. Witney has just broken the seal on a new deck of 52 cards for this second game. And if we need to play a Sudden Death tie-breaking hand for game 3 of this match, we will use this same deck. Matt, as you're trailing in the match, I'll ask you at this time to please cut the cards by selecting a number higher than 0 but lower than 52.

Thank you Matt. Our first puzzle and our first hand will be worth what, Witney? $50 and $225 respectively. Players, I need a 4 letter word starting with H that connects the split: FOLK with SANDWICH tpirepguide.com/qwizx/gssfx/usa/be-buzzer.wavAnd Matt you are in first. You have until 6:45am EST on Thursday, August 10th to post your answer.

That is correct! Nicely solved. That was a tough one I thought. First card for your consideration Matt... a 5. Do you want it yourself, give it to George, or place it in the center?

And the next card for you to place Matt will be... An 8. Do you want that for yourself or place it in the center as the common card?

Sound strategy there I'd say, leaving George a rather narrow split for this opening hand. That means Matt the card that you'll get is... A King. So 4 cards will win for George, 9 will lose for him. Matt, 6 cards will win for you, 7 will lose. Both of you with less than a 50/50 chance of winning this opening hand, so determining control of the next card from the top of this deck will prove most important. High Card toss-up time. The board is re-set with all 13 cards up there someplace. Matt, please pick a pair of numbers and let's see if you can find that Ace right off the bat again like you did last time for an instant $500 bonus.

Ah, trying George's numerical strategy I see. Card 2 is... A 6. 8 cards will beat it, 4 will not. Do you want to keep that 6 Matt or refuse it, which would force George to have to take it, and we'll see if card #4 that you also chose is higher than that 6?

And behind #4 you kept for yourself a... 10! You retain control Matt. You have the option. You can pass the top card if you wish to George and hope it won't fit between his 5 and 8, or keep it and hope that your card will fit between an 8 and a King. What's your pleasure Matt?

With a tight squeeze, I think I would have played it the same way Matt. Only another 5, a 6, a 7 or another 8 will give George the first hand... And the card is... A six! It IS a fit, and George wins the first hand... www.dougmorris.net/chain/sfxding.mp3George, win two more hands and you'll retain the Split Decision crown. Matt, tough break for you there as that 6 was a no win situation for you unfortunately. Let's see the value of the next puzzle and hand please Witney... $50 toss up and the maximum value for the hand $250... This time I need a SEVEN letter word, starting with "V" that connects the split: GARDEN and SHOW tpirepguide.com/qwizx/gssfx/usa/be-buzzer.wavMatt, you are in first again and have until 5:20pm EST on Saturday, August 12th to post your answer.

That is not correct.
As I had mentioned too we needed a 7 letter word.
George, you'll be in control of the cards regardless, but you can pick up 50 bucks here if you can tell me what the word is.
You have until 6:30pm EST on Saturday, August 12th to post your answer.
If you're right you'll win $50.
If you're wrong, you won't win any money but you'll have control of the cards.

The 9 goes to Matt, but George, you may have wished instead that you placed it in the center because: The next two cards are both 4's! Only another 4 will win this hand for you George. Matt will win if the next card is a 4 through a 9. High Card toss-up time again: Remember players, even though the $500 bonus is out of play for finding the Ace on the first try, the Bonus Draw token for the Pot Limit end game is still hiding up there somewhere. We didn't find it during game 1, but I'd like to get it found in game 2, so that way one of you two will have 4 Bonus Draw tokens instead of just 3 for the end game. George, please select a pair of numbers and in the order in which you'd like them to be revealed. As usual, if your first pick is the Ace or the 2, you'll keep control of the deck automatically, any other card and you'll have a decision to make.

Card 7 is A Jack. Three cards will beat it, 7 will lose to it. Do you want to keep the Jack and allow Matt to make a selection, or do you want to give Matt the Jack and see if you can beat it with what is under #13 George?

I had a feeling you would. Okay Matt, you will get to pick now. If you find a card higher than a Queen, you'll take control away from George. What number do you select Matt?

Let us see, did Matt wrestle control of the cards away from George? Yes, with a Queen! How about that. Matt, you now control the fate of the next card in this hand. Are you keeping it or do you want to give it to George to try to bust him? Only another 4 would win the hand for him Matt. What do you want to do?
