One of the all time all-timers when it came to singing. Tony Bennett passed away at the age of 96.
Tony, along with Mel Brooks, Rudy Vallee, Groucho Marx and Joan Crawford were all guests on the very first Tonight Show with Johnny Carson back on Monday, October 1, 1962.
Tony was both an accomplished solo vocalist as well as having done so many tremendous duets.
Another not so well known but great Italian in my eyes passed away today also, my favorite niece's father-in-law left this world today after a very long hard fought battle with cancer. He was a family man, very congenial, very proud and I was blessed to have crossed paths with him on several occasions over the course of the past 9 years.

Just like me, he was also from Queens, so we shared something in common. The sad thing is, I never got to meet him in person, but I used to love listening to my grandparents' old records just to hear that magnificent voice of his. Even Frank Sinatra called him "the best singer in the business", and I'm going to bet that he's on the other side thanking Ol' Blue Eyes for that compliment.
R.I.P. Tony Bennett
