I was going to do another Million Dollar Spectacular, but it is too difficult to get 10 people to sign up for a show. On that show I did, we ended up having to pretend everyone had a celebrity alter ego just to fill the quota of required number of people and quite frankly, the whole thing felt a little weird to me, so I don't want to do that again. What I've come up with here will require only 4 people. This show will still be based on "The Price is Right" but with a tweaked format where we bid on Showcases rather than individual items.
Most of you are familiar with BigJon's TPIR game and within the more recent versions of that game, he created a mini-game he calls "Beatdown" where two or more contestants bid on a Showcase for points and the first person to score x number of points wins the game. We will use this mini-game on this show in order to essentially create an alternate version of Price.
Here is how it will work:
- There will be no sign-ups for this show, rather a Showcase will be presented to bid on and a time limit will be posted for bids. If you are interested in playing on the show, you can PM me a bid, one bid per person.
- There will be 4 contestants on the show, represented by the 4 bids I received via PM that were closest to the retail price of the Showcase that was presented. For this one Showcase alone, overbids will be permitted -- it will simply be the 4 closest bids that make it onto the show. During the show itself though, the "without going over" clause will be back in play.
- On the show, the goal will be to become one of the 3 finalists. To become a finalist, we play this "Beatdown" game until someone scores 2 points, at which time that person is removed from the bidding and we start another round of Beatdown with the remaining 3 contestants to determine the 2nd finalist, followed by a third round to determine the 3rd finalist. Once we've determined our 3 finalists, we will have to say goodbye to the 4th contestant.
- Along the way, every person who earns a point during bidding on Showcases gets to play a pricing game for cash and prizes. This means some or possibly all of the 4 contestants will play more than one pricing game, depending on the results of the Beatdown games. The prizes listed in the Showcases during Beatdown games are not prizes to be won, but are there just to have a total dollar amount for bidding purposes to earn points.
- The three finalists then spin the Big Wheel, although rather than just one contestant winning, it will be the winning score and the runner-up score who advance to the Showcase round. The other difference with our wheel spinning is that if a contestant spins again, the second spin isn't added to the first spin, the second spin replaces the first spin. This is because we can't have anyone going over one dollar since we need two people to advance to the Showcase round.
- As on a typical Price show, our show also ends with the two winners from the Big Wheel competing against each other in the Showcase.
