The original (and still the best) host of "Jeopardy!", Art Fleming, being interviewed by Bob Costas on his talk show "Later".
Now sure what year this is from. Wink has a virtual treasure trove of videos on his channel.
Here's the link to the Art Fleming interview:

The first time I saw Art was the 1979 revival of Jeopardy! Too bad it didn't last long in the ratings.

I think the main reason it didn't last too long is it was too different from the classic Jeopardy! which ran on NBC from March 1964 - January 3, 1975.
Merv & Company learned from their mistake and when Jeopardy! returned in 1984, they kept the original format, although Art felt the clues were a bit too easy and he disliked that only the winner got to keep the cash. Art also disliked the fact that the players had to wait until Alex finished reading the clue in its entirety before being allowed to ring in. He felt people who rang in right away felt confident enough and were gutsy enough to put themselves in jeopardy right away.
And although I am inclined to agree with Mr. Fleming, evidently Jeopardy! must be doing something right, as it's now in its fourth decade in syndication with Alex at the helm, and renewed through the 2017-18 season.

I found something in his vault and I think I should put it here now before I forget.
