I kind of figured the writing was on the wall when Television City was bought from CBS. But still, it's going to be a sad farewell when Price tapes from Studio 33 for the last time. With the exception of the 30th Anniversary special in Las Vegas, Studio 33 has been the only place where the show has ever been taped and produced.
I was hoping that Bob Barker's 100th birthday episode would be produced on his namesake stage, but now that it's not going to happen, it has already put a damper on the upcoming milestone. I remember all the times I would stay home as a kid and start the hour wondering which of the many games would be played during the episode, and getting excited when they brought out the Big Wheel for the Showcase Showdown. And the Showcases were the perfect way to cap off the day, although I would get depressed if a Double-Overbid occurred, ending the show on a down note.
Whether it was the daytime series, the nighttime shows with Barker, Tom Kennedy and Doug Davidson (I wasn't able to see the Dennis James episodes in first-run, as he left the show when I was still an infant), the '86 Specials, TPIR Salutes, Million-Dollar Spectacular, or TPIR at Night, I've had more than enough memories to last a lifetime. Best of luck to Drew Carey and friends as they kick off Season 52 from Haven Studios, although I wonder how George Gray is going to announce the opening.

My take on this news may be a bit surprising, considering how "old school" I tend to be.
If this move helps the last 2 daytime game shows on a major network (meaning CBS, NBC, ABC) then I'm all in favor of it.
I mean even the New York Yankees opened up a brand new Yankee Stadium in 2009. Sadly the only one, the "House That Ruth Built" was torn down and not preserved for posterity, but the Yankees are still around.
I miss so many of the places I lived in and grew up in, but what I miss much much more are the people who are, or were, associated with those places.
If "Price" were being canceled, that would truly be earth shattering. That they will be at a new facility is far less so to me.
Many felt sad when Johnny Carson relocated permanently to Los Angeles the Tonight Show back in May 1972 but that show ran another 20 years successfully with him there.
Now it's back in New York in the same studio where Johnny first held court and the show is at best a shell of its former self.
It's far more the people than the places that make things.

Television City was an institution like no other. Why would they sell the facility instead of renovating and expand is beyond me. Once they took out "CBS" in their intros, you had to have known something was going on. Once Bob Barker Studios gets redone, no telling what they'll put up there.

I did read over on golden-road.net, the new place is adjacent to a place called the Golden Road Brewery, kind of ironic!

Recently, CBS News ran two stories on the show's upcoming departure. This article is from Wednesday's Evening News: www.cbsnews.com/news/price-is-right-leaves-television-city-los-angeles-new-home-glendale/And then, today on Mornings, they ran this segment: Next Monday will be the last episode ever taped at the Bob Barker Studio after 51 years. I wonder how that one will go; guess they'll have to surprise me then (and when they set up shop in Glendale too!).

Oodles of history there. Still I'm not sure if this move to Glendale is temporary or permanent, since they keep saying CBS is being "refurbished".
