As a novice game show aficionado, I often enjoy watching videos of old game shows when not watching GSN or Buzzr.
This rant is about the 1985-86 syndicated Break the Bank, specifically the Gene Rayburn episodes.
I know Gene pretty much hated the show. The inane stunts the contestants were made to do were some of the stupidest things ever on T.V.
The end game was far more corny than 30 billion acres of Nebraska farmland.
One episode I saw had Richard Moll from Night Court dressed up like a king, along with Bozo the Clown and a really poor Elvis impersonator.
Another episode I watched (because it's like a train wreck, it's ugly but you can't take your eyes off of it) featured Rerun from "What's Happening", along with a Charlie Chaplin wannabe and a guy in a gorilla suit.
I mean my Lord, what were the folks at Kline & Friends smoking when they came up with this dreck?
When Joe Farago took over, the end game improved vastly. That said, I also detested that BTB used the same front game methodology as Password Plus/Super Password did, by having clues leading up to the answer of a puzzle. I'm rather amazed Mr. Goodson didn't give Kline & Friends grief over that.
I am old enough to remember seeing this when it first aired back in the day. I'm curious to hear your thoughts and opinions about this program.
Rant over...

Yeah I watched the pilot recently on Wink’s channel. Not even the whole format made sense to me.
