Bill McDee came up with a cool PYL-style board that he showed us in the Show Your Stuff section, so all credit to him for this idea. Since I have a working copy of BigJon's PYL game installed, I have come up with a version of a Press Your Luck style Showcase Showdown that I'd like to test here.
I was able to figure out the values, but sadly you don't seem to be able to change them, so I associated the cents value from the Big Wheel with similar spin amounts from PYL. So, the nickel is $50, the dime is $100, the 15 is $150 and so on. It gets a bit wonky towards the higher numbers because Jon never created an $850 or $950 amount, so the 80 is $800, the 85 is $900, the 90 is $1,000, the 95 is $2,500 and the dollar is $5,000. I also created a "Bonus Spin" version of the board, but again the issue is you can't assign the same value for two different spaces because they are set in the VB Script code which I don't have, so for our bonus spin, if you stop on the nickel, you win $10,000, if you stop on 15 cents, you win $25,000 and if you stop on the dollar, you win $50,000.
The passing spins mechanic makes it necessary to allow scores higher than one dollar, so it will be the contestant nearest to one dollar that wins the Showcase Showdown.
Bill, I'd love it if you'd be one of the 3 contestants to test this with me since this was originally your idea. We'll put you in the "Top Winner, Spins Last" position if you're willing to play of course. Can I please have two others willing to join in this test?

Cool, thanks Shederick! I'll put you in the runner-up position, so you spin second. I need 1 more to spin first...who wants to spin the Big...Board!?

Announcer: And now once again here is Jack Thompson with our Showcase Showdown!
Yes indeed and with Jack Thompson we have Bill McDee, we have Shederick Weatherspoon Jr., we have Nels Snesrud and we have - (turns my head to the left) - (gasps) - (turns my head to the right to look at the producers) - Hey, call the cops, somebody stole the Big Wheel! - (audience chuckles) -
No no, just kidding, we are trying a different version of the Showcase Showdown today, using something we borrowed from another Fremantle-owned show - the Big Board from Press Your Luck! - (audience applauds) - Don't worry though, we left the Whammies behind so we don't have to worry about them! Here's how this works:
As is the case with the Big Wheel, the idea is to be the contestant nearest to one dollar, but here though, due to the possibility of having more than two spins, going over is acceptable, so it'll be the one of you nearest to one dollar that wins. There is also cash on hand in this game because when you stop the board, two things happen - you get a score in cents as you would on the Big Wheel, but you also get some cash - fifty bucks for the nickel, a hundred for the dime, all the way up to five thousand dollars if you stop on that dollar! - (audience applauds)
Just like the Big Wheel, if you score exactly one dollar in one spin or a combination of spins, you get a Bonus Spin that could be worth as much as fifty thousand dollars! - (audience cheers)
Bill, you've won the most in this half of the show, so you will spin last which may or may not prove to be an advantage. Shederick you will spin second and Nels here starts us off. Let's start the board spinning please. - (board begins to spin) - Nels, there's a pedestal here to my left with a big red button on top of it. That's the button you hit when you want to stop the board from spinning, so when you're ready, step over here and smack down that button whenever you want and we'll hope it stops on that dollar! Here we go, good luck Nels!
(To simulate the time it takes to spin the Big Wheel, when you say Stop, please put a number between 15 and 30 which will represent the amount of seconds the board will spin before it stops)

(ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding) - (music plays with audience cheers and claps) -
Are you kidding me!?!?! A dollar on our very first spin! Unbelievable! Nels, you've certainly set the bar high here. You win five thousand dollars for that spin and you'll get a bonus spin here shortly, not to mention you'll be going to the Showcase unless one of these two ties you, in which case the bonus spins will also be spin-offs!
Now, one difference here is that you have a second spin that you will obviously pass and in this case, since both of the other players haven't spun yet, you get to decide who gets the passed spin Nels. Do you want to pass it to Shederick or Bill?
EDIT: So, a correction here, I realized that if the spins were passed to Bill, he would end up spinning next. Bill is supposed to be the top winner and spin last, so in this case, the passed spin must go to Shederick so that the spin order is retained.
So Shederick, it is your spin sir.

After all that spinning, it's a miserable nickel! - (audience chuckles) - Well Shederick, here's the good news - because that spin was passed from Nels, you still have your original two spins to use, so if you can manage to spin yourself ninety-five cents within the next two spins, you'll join Nels in a spin-off! Good luck!

Stop on a dime. I had a car that could do that once. - (audience chuckles) - Okay find yourself eighty-five cents this time Shederick and you and Nels will have a spin-off! Good luck!

Stop on forty-five cents which totals sixty cents and that's not enough, but you've picked up six hundred dollars from those spins and thanks for playing Shederick! - (audience applauds)
Well Bill, Mr. Snesrud over there set the bar pretty high right out of the gate, but if he can do it, so can you! Let's hit that dollar and have ourselves a spin-off! - (audience cheers)

Oh, you just missed the dollar by only a couple of spaces! Okay, get yourself 80 cents now Bill - one spot over and one down - and we'll have a spin-off!

No luck Bill, that's only sixty-five cents total, but we have six hundred fifty dollars for your troubles and our thanks for playing today! - (audience applauds)
Nels, you won this thing right off the bat and it's time for your Bonus Spin! If the board stops on the nickel, you win $10,000! If it stops on fifteen cents, you win $25,000! But, if you manage to repeat what you did earlier and stop on that dollar, this time it's worth $50,000! If it stops anywhere else, you win the same amount as before. Good luck Nels!

Oh man, you just missed twenty-five grand by one square Nels! So close! But, you've picked up another $900 here for a total of $5,900 and you're off to the Showcases coming up next!!
=======
So what did you guys think of this? It didn't play out this way, but I realized something along the way. If Shederick or Bill had scored let's say 80 cents or something like that with their first spin, they technically could have passed that second spin to Nels, who then who have been pushed beyond one dollar total allowing one of them to win perhaps, depending on what Nels would have spun. It presents some interesting strategic possibilities which I like.
I am planning to do another TPIR show at some point in the future - do you think I should use this for our Showcase Showdowns? Let me know what you guys thought and anyone who was watching this thread as well -- feel free to post your opinion on it. Thanks to the three of you for testing this out!
