Well you have rolled a 2 and a 4 Bill, so that's 8! I did the math all by myself!
So for the moment at least, you are now only 42 yards away from scoring a touchdown on the field when we get to it, whereas Shederick would now need 58 yards should he win the coin flip and get first possession. It is still your turn Bill as you get the next question and here it is:
Who kicked the first successful NFL field goal of 60+ yards?
(a) Jan Stenerud (b) Tom Dempsey (c) Tony Franklin (d) Steve Cox

That is correct and there is the video to prove it! Which number would you like next Bill?

This time it is our first look at one of the time cards. This affects both players and since it is a red time card, it means we are about to take some time off the clock. So roll those dice again please Bill and this time, we add the dice together and then multiply that result by 5 and we will then be taking that many seconds off the clock.

And it's a 5 this time which when multiplied by 5 means we are taking 25 seconds off the clock.
So Shederick, that is good news for you leading by 6 as Bill now has less time to try and re-take the lead himself. Here is your next question Shederick:
Who was the first player to rush for 100 or more yards in a Super Bowl?
(a) Ben Wilson (b) Tom Matte (c) Matt Snell (d) Warren McVea

In this case, I would have accepted either Tom Matte or Matt Snell as they both had 100-yard games in Super Bowl III. Matte had 11 rushes for 116 yards for the Baltimore Colts. Snell had 30 rushes for 121 yards and a touchdown for the Jets.
Pick a number please, Shederick.

Flipping over number 5 and we find
(ding - do-do-dee-do)
Your first penalty card. Those extra chimes indicate that this is one of the 5 pick again numbers, so you get a free number in a moment. As you might expect though, this means you will start down a down if you get first possession.
So, if you gain possession now, you would start 2nd and 10 from your own 42. You get a free pick Shederick, so which number this time please?

Let's see what we have behind number 12.
(ding)
It's another team card! So we now know our match-up on the field at least for the time being.
Shederick, you will have Norm Van Brocklin leading your offense. He quarterbacked the Eagles to a win in the 1960 NFL Championship game which included a touchdown pass to Tommy McDonald in the second quarter to give Philly their first lead of the game.
So for now, it's the '60 Eagles versus the '68 Colts in our 1st Quarter match-up. We haven't found a coin flip card yet and there are other teams somewhere on the board, so we'll see if these teams remain in play or get changed.
Bill, here's your next question:
This player set a record back in 1969 that still stands today -- he made a punt of 98 yards -- the longest in NFL history. Who did it?
(a) Steve O'Neal (b) Don Chandler (c) Bob Scarpitto (d) Ron Widby

No it was Jets rookie Steve O'Neal who did it. So Shederick, this is a free number pick for you.

What do we have behind number 20?
(ding)
There is the coin flip card! So that ends the selections from the board and we will now determine which of you two gets the ball first.
Shederick, you chose it so you get to call it. Heads or tails? If you're right, your 1960 Eagles get the ball 2nd and 10 from your own 42, if you're wrong, Bill's 1968 Colts get the ball 1st and 20 from Shederick's 42.

It's tails! So Mr. McDee, trailing the game by 6, will get the ball first and will be 42 yards and an extra point kick away from taking the lead.
Now you each get to choose your offensive and defensive playbooks. There are 3 offensive ones to choose from and 2 defensive ones. For the offense, we have:
- Pass Balanced (about 60% of the playbook is passing plays)
- Run Balanced (about 60% of the playbook is running plays)
- Run Heavy (about 70% of the playbook is running plays)
For the defense, we have:
- 3-4 Defense (defensive alignment consisting of three down linemen and four linebackers)
- 4-3 Defense (defensive alignment consisting of four down linemen and three linebackers)
Shederick, since you lost the coin toss, you must choose your playbooks first. This may or may not give Bill a slight advantage - we will find out on the field! Choose one of those 3 offensive and one of those 2 defense playbooks please Shederick.

Yes, it was amazing to me that there was very little that both defenses were doing right...until that last play! The difference here though Bill is, had this been the real show, this would have only been the end of the quarter and not the final score.
Here are the stats from the game play:
At the end of the first quarter, the score is
So that will conclude the test. I want to thank you both for participating and would like to know your honest opinion about it. Should I make this a show or not? If yes, what, if any, changes do you think I should make? I would like to invite not only Shederick and Bill, but any NGC member who was interested in this thread to chime in with their opinion as well.
If this becomes a show, I plan to make a couple of changes. One is to award money only for points scored on the field and not for points scored from finding cards on the number board. The quarter bonus seems a bit too high as well, so I will change that to $1,000. So with those changes in place, the winnings totals would currently haven been Shederick with $9,000 ($8,000 for 8 points scored on the field plus the $1,000 for winning the quarter) and Bill with $7,000 for the converted touchdown scored on the field.
Okay so let me know what you think, thank you both again for playing and Happy Holidays to everyone on NGC!
