I am always reminded of my childhood when I see this game. In the United States I think it is called Chutes and Ladders but we used snakes on our game up here in Canada. I thought I would try making a game show out of this. I did search the forum and saw one person in the past who played this as a game show. He or she has since been deleted though and this version will be different so I am hoping it is okay to proceed with this.
In our version we will have side games where the contestants can earn more cash and additional dice rolls to get up (or maybe down) the board faster. The basic rule of the game remains - first player to reach square 100 wins the game. We will be using the rule where you must roll the exact number to land on the 100 to win and you will go backwards if you roll too high a number. So if you were on 98 and rolled a 5 you would go forward by 2 then back by 3 and end up on 97. The winner plays a bonus round and gets $100,000 if they can make it all the way up the board. We will be using Random.org to roll the dice.
First player to sign up will be the designated champion and will start the game. I need 2 players please.

(split screen showing our two contestants with intro music playing and audience applauding)
Jim Thornton: Today, these two players will test their skill and their luck as they look to climb the ladders and avoid the snakes on their way to a possible payoff of over $100,000! From Television City in Hollywood, let's play
Here now is your host for Snakes and Ladders - Jack Thompson!
Thank you so much Jim and welcome ladies and gentlemen to our pilot episode of Snakes and Ladders where one of our two players today might wind up with well over $100,000 in cash - that is of course if they can find enough of the ladders and avoid enough of the snakes.
Before I explain the rules of our game let us meet our players beginning with the first of our two challengers - Raymond Weaver! - (applause) - Raymond, tell us something about yourself please.

I would be eating all the stock if I worked at a bagel shop! Spread some Philly cream cheese on those bad boys! Yummy! It is nice to have you with us Raymond. Your opponent today is Nels Snesrud. Welcome Nels - what can you tell us about yourself?

That is awesome - bowling is a great social sport - pleasure to have you here as well Nels. Let us have a look at the board.
As with any game of Snakes and Ladders, the object here is to be the first contestant to land on square number 100. You will each be starting just to the left of square 1 and will begin by rolling a single die to determine how many spaces you move on the board. If you stop on a square at the base of a ladder, you move up the ladder to the space at the top of it. If you stop on a square that has the head of a snake, you slide down the board to the space with the tail of the snake. To win the game you must stop on 100 exactly meaning if you were on square 97 you would have to roll a 3 to win the game as rolling a 4 or higher would take you to square 100 but then back you up again.
You will notice some green lettering on the board. These are all special squares that have the following meaning: - DD stands for Double Dice - land on this square and you will roll two dice from that point on instead of one die and move forward by the sum of the dice
- TF stands for our True/False side game - landing on this square and answering a true/false question correctly earns you some bonus cash and another dice roll
- HL stands for our Higher vs. Lower side game - landing on this square and guessing correctly at the higher/lower question earns you some bonus cash and another dice roll
- FG stands for our Flag Game - landing on this square and guessing correctly at the country flag shown to you earns you some bonus cash and 2 more dice rolls
In addition to these side games, there are other ways to earn more dice rolls: - Rolling a 6 when you have a single die earns you a second roll
- Rolling doubles when you have two dice earns you a second roll
- If you have at least $750 cash on your scoreboard, you can purchase another roll
You earn (or lose) cash as we go along in these ways: - You get $100 for every step you take forward
- You get $500 for every side game you answer correctly
- You get a $1,000 bonus for every ladder you climb
- You lose $2,000 for every snake you slide down
- You lose $750 each time you purchase a roll
- You get $2,500 for winning the game
The winner will return on our next show to defend his title and also plays the Back To Square One bonus round for a bonus of as much as $100,000. - applause
Raymond, you won the toss backstage and you get to start us off. (Type rolls dice and we will use Random.org as our dice roller)

You rolled a 5 and just missed that first ladder!
A good start though Raymond, but it was not a 6 and there is no side game on that square so it is time for Nels to have his first roll.

Well, it's a 5 for you as well Nels.
Raymond, take your next roll please. A deuce would get you Double Dice and a 3 would net you $1,300 and put you up to space 30!

Look at that - you got the 2!
So for the moment, Raymond with the advantage now being able to roll two dice instead of one die. You are just shy of being able to purchase a roll though Raymond so that ends your turn. Nels - you have the same options - can you match him again?

Only one space that time Nels but the good news is the same options of double dice and going up that first ladder are still in play.
Raymond you have a one-square lead and you are basically guaranteed two rolls in a row now because you will be able to buy a second roll for $750 if you so choose after this next roll. Rolling any doubles or rolling a 10 and answering a High/Low question correctly would also give you another roll. So a big chance now for you to widen your lead Raymond - roll those dice when ready please.

A seven is good enough to go to the level right above you.
You have enough there to buy another roll Raymond - roll again if you want to do that or you can stay if you want to build up that cash - what do you think?

Okay Nels, it is your roll in that case. You are one away from having Double Dice yourself or roll a 2 and you will wind up on square number 30!

Well how about that - you got the Double Dice after all Nels!
As was the case with Raymond, you do not have quite enough for another roll Nels so it is back to Raymond who has some interesting squares coming up. Raymond, you will play our High/Low game if you roll a 3, you will climb up to square 42 if you roll a 7, you will play our Flag Game if you roll a 9 or you will answer a True/False question with a roll of 11. Roll when ready please Raymond.

You rolled a 5 this time which now puts you snake eyes away from jumping up to the middle of the board.
Raymond you have enough in the bank to buy two more rolls if you wanted to - would you like an additional roll now?

Fair enough - Nels, it is time for your first roll of two dice - double sixes would put you on the same square as Raymond and give you another roll. Go for it Nels.

It is a 6 for you Nels moving you up to square 13.
Nels you have the same side game and ladder options that I described to Raymond earlier - you have enough cash to purchase another roll if you wish - roll again or stay?
