Rather than do this in the Beta-Testing area, I decided to do a pilot episode here instead.
This game is loosely based on NBC's Scrabble. Trying to figure out words by placing letters into a mystery word.
No clues are given, and in every case, no letters ever repeat in a word.
You can see the rule sheet under the Announcements section, but of course I will go over rules during game play itself.
I need two to try out this pilot please.
Respectfully and appreciatively,
Bill

Frank Caliendo: If you want to win thousands of dollars in cold hard cash... all you have to do is... Just Say The Word! (applause) And now, here's the man who came in third in his own look-alike contest, a man of many words... Bill McDee!!! That's me! Good day and welcome to a Bill McDee original game...in time we'll see if it can make it here as a series or not... This is "Just Say The Word", where saying the right word at the right time will lead to ready cash for our two players today, one of which will play our bonus game for a chance at possibly thousands of bucks more. Let us meet them now...this is a Mason-Dixon battle as we have from New York, Kevin Kolsen, and from Louisiana, an officer and a gentlemen, Lieutenant Shederick Weatherspoon Jr! Welcome to "Just Say The Word" fellas, please kindly tell us and the viewing audience something about yourselves if you please...

Congratulations on making it into officers' country Kourtney and thank you for your continued service.
As for the video photography, be sure to get my "good side" (turning around facing away from the camera)...
Best wishes on all of that and in our game today.
And Kevin, you are from the Empire State, and you are a tax accountant yes?

I did indeed! My cleverness is obviously contagious! May good luck be contagious as well for you Kevin. The object of our game is fairly simple, our players will be attempting to solve a series of words as quickly as they can, because the faster a word is solved, the more points the solver will bank. And points do matter in this game...(take that Drew Carey)...for after 5 words, the player with the higher point total will win one game, and will receive $25 per point scored, while the runner up will win $50 for every word solved. Three things to remember about all of the words that will be in play. First, while they can be verbs, adverbs, adjectives or nouns, they will never be proper nouns, so PARIS could never be an answer. Second, none of the words will ever be pluralized, so the answer will never be PAIRS. Lastly, none of the words will have any repeating letters in them, so APPLE could never be a possible answer either. The first word is always 5 letters in length. Right now the word is worth 15 points, but that will go down after any letter is placed in the word. Point values ranging from 1 to 5 have been assigned at random to the five spaces that make up our first word. There are a total of 9 numbered boxes that you will get to choose from. Five of them contain each of the five letters that make up this word. One hides a Wild card. If you select that, you will get to fill in any one remaining space that you wish. If that happens, then the square that is hiding that letter will be automatically taken out of play. Three of these 9 boxes contain a STOP sign...those are stoppers. If you pick one, you will lose your turn and not be able to guess at the word. If you make a guess AFTER a letter is placed and are wrong, you will not be penalized, but by doing so, that will help your opponent since they will know what the correct answer isn't. And while you are allowed to guess what the word might be BEFORE you select a number off of our game board, doing so could be costly, for if you give an incorrect solve in that case, you will have points subtracted from your total, and those will always be determined at random. It could be a loss of 1, 2 or 3 points. And also that will mean a loss of your turn as well. Kevin, as you signed up first, you will get to kick things off. Assuming you don't wish to try to solve this word with NO letters revealed, I'll ask you to select one of the 9 numbered boxes on the board and we'll begin.

Let's see what the snowman has... Well well, just like the very first Classic Concentration episode in May 1987, the very first pick is a Wild card. Kevin, which letter do you want filled in, the first, second, third, fourth or fifth one?

First letter.

First show, first pick, so appropriate to take the first letter... Two points will be subtracted from the pot... And by golly it is the first letter of the alphabet too! Kevin, for 13 points and an early lead in this first game, you have until 6:20am Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, September 22nd to Just Say The Word. Or you may pass if you wish.

ACORN.

Post by billmcdee on Sept 20, 2022 9:35:27 GMT -5
For 13 points, is it ACORN?
(buzzer)
a very good try, but not it. No penalty since you placed a letter, but now Shederick gets a turn.
Shederick, you can either select one of the remaining numbers to try to place another letter, or you can take a guess now.
If you guess now and are wrong however, you'll lose points. What would you like to do?

Awful... Is right! (applause) The player who is behind gets to go first when we play a new word. This is a six letter word, 21 points in the pot, but that will go down with each letter placed. Kevin, we're back to you, please select one of the ten numbers?

Shederick, it's back over to you again sir. You can try to solve the word but run the risk of losing points if you're wrong, or you can select another number and try to place another letter. What's your pleasure sir?
