This episode will kick off the second run of the show, as well as its return to the daytime schedule, which will now be on CBS. Here are a couple of changes to note for the new era:
There will be no more passing questions at face-offs; instead, the family that has the best answer (regardless of whether it was Number 1) will automatically play the question.
On steal attempts, I will repeat the question for the opposing family, and they must answer individually, in the reverse order of their appearance. After the anchor and second players give their answers, the head of the family can then decide whether to accept one of the answers that his/her teammates gave or give one on his/her own.
The second round is once again in its own segment, with all subsequent rounds in the same segment.
The returning champions rule has been amended to a five-game limit. However, because the Wilsons played when the $25,000 winnings cap was still in effect, they will be grandfathered into the old rule.
This episode will be a rematch of the last Dawson show (with the Wilsons having a four-day total of $17,512), but first, let's take a look at the first official episode with Ray Combs as host:

And now, on we go with the new era... (1988 FF Open) ERIN HARRIS: Let's meet the Wilson family: Kourtney, Matt and Chris, ready for action! Playing against the Tims family: Immanuel, Kevin and Nels. On your marks, let's start...the Family Feud! (1988 FF Theme) With the star of Family Feud, Bill Skinner!Thank you! Thank you very much. Welcome to Family Feud, and I'm so happy to be back on the air again. And this is going to be our first show on CBS, who was grateful enough to give us a second chance in daytime TV. I kind of feel bad for Dick Clark and those who were tuning in and expecting to see The $25,000 Pyramid, but this is going to be an acquired taste, and hopefully, you'll love us as a lead-in to America's Number 1 game show, The Price is Right! And speaking of second chances, we have a rematch of a game we played four years ago, so let's welcome back the Wilsons and the Tims! It was an unintentional hosting error that set up this rematch, and hopefully I'll get it right this time. We have a $5,000 cash prize waiting to be won at the end of the show, but first, we need to play the Feud! Kourtney and Immanuel, come join me! (1988 FF Face-Off Cue, fiddle variant) The first family to $300 will win the game and move on to Fast Money for a chance at the $5,000. We asked 100 people this question, and the top eight answers are on the board; try to find the most popular answer. Name a well-known enemy in Super Mario Bros.

Bowser

Of course, his biggest nemesis of all. Show me Bowser! clang!(bells jangling) It's the Number 1 answer, so you guys will play. Kourtney, we may come back to you, though, so get with your teammates and think up some answers in case you get a chance to steal. Kevin, can you name another well-known enemy in Super Mario Bros.?

I must admit, I thought you were going to go with your username, but let's see where those little brown things fall. Show me some Goombas! clang! They're Number 2! And that was a very good answer indeed. Nels, I'd like to hear what you have to say.

Kong

|
Post by Bill Skinner on Aug 12, 2022 9:36:51 GMT -5
Sure, that would be a great answer, because in the beginning he'd throw barrels at that poor plumber. Show me Kong! (strike buzzer) Oh, that's your first strike. If you get three of those, the Wilsons will try for the steal. Immanuel, what do you think?

The Koopas. And Kevin doesn’t count

(laughter and applause) Now I know for sure that Kevin wishes he had that answer! And I'm pretty sure that they'll be up there. Show me the Koopas! clang! They made the survey, with 13 people saying the same thing. If I remember correctly, there were the ones who walked on the ground, and the ones who could fly. Now Kevin, aren't you glad that you're neither one of those? With that being said, would you care to give me another answer?

I was gonna say Immanuel stole my answer, but instead he stole my name!
I will say Lakitu next.

That's a great answer, because I remember him throwing things from clouds in an attempt to hurt Mario. Let's see if he's up there. Show me Lakitu! (strike buzzer) Whoa, your second strike, but I really liked that answer. Well Nels, the pressure is on you now, because the Wilsons are gathering on the other side, ready for the steal. So you need to give me an answer in order to keep playing. What do you think?

Three seconds... (strike buzzer) ...and that's your third strike. (walks to Wilson side of stage) Now Wilsons, this is your chance to steal. I'm going to ask the question again, and then you'll each give me an answer that you think will help the head of your family. The question is: Name a well-known enemy in Super Mario Bros. First up will be Chris.

The Hammerhead Brothers

Matt says the Hammerhead Brothers. Kourtney, they both gave great answers, but you have the final say, because you can either accept one of their answers or give me one of your own. So what is it going to be?

I am not sure so I am going to go with Wario.

So you're going with Wario, and if he's up there, you guys take the bank. If not, they do. Show me Wario! clang!(bells jangling) Once again, the champs strike first. So there are four answers that have not yet been revealed; let's see them now, shall we? Number 4? clang!AUDIENCE: Hammer Bros.!You had that one as well, so either way, you would've gotten it. Number 6? clang!AUDIENCE: Spiny!I can't tell you how much I hated those red spiky things that would always kill me every time I played it. Number 7? clang!AUDIENCE: Cheep-Cheep!Those fish were definitely annoying too. And Number 8? clang!AUDIENCE: Blooper!Funny, I didn't mind the white squid that much, even though it was always acting strange. After one round, the Wilsons lead 72 to nothing. (1988 FF Commercial Cue, harmonica variant) Remember, we're going to keep playing until someone reaches 300. Back after this.

Welcome back to Family Feud. It's the Wilsons 72, and the Tims nothing. But now, Matt and Kevin, will you join me for another face-off? (1988 FF Face-Off Cue, alternate fiddle variant) We asked 100 people this question, and the top six answers are on the board. Name a major prize that is frequently seen on The Price is Right.

Show me a car! clang!(bells jangling) It's the Number 1 answer, so the Wilsons play this time. Kevin, think of some answers if you get a chance to steal. Chris, can you name another major prize that is frequently seen on The Price is Right?
