I actually saw this from a post made by thiswheel13, and I think it's a good game, so I'll be hosting this one on the forums here next week Monday and see how it goes.
POWER GRID
A GAME OF FAST TRIVIA AND ELECTRIC FUN
GOAL:
In each round of play, players must make their way through the grid towards the power surge square. This square ends the round and the player with the least amount of money after the power surge question will be eliminated.
GAMEPLAY:
At the beginning of each round the players will choose a starting place along the outside of the grid. A draw will be determined for the order of play for the first grid (All subsequent rounds will begin with the player who banked the least amount of money in the previous round).
When a players steps onto a square it reveal either a cash value, boost, or penalty. The player will then be asked a question. If he/she is right, they will claim the square and its contents. The player will continue to move along the grid (horizontally or vertically), ONE SPACE AT A TIME, and answer questions as long as they give correct answers unless they give an incorrect answer or find a penalty square.
If a player answers a question incorrectly, the other players then have a chance to steal the square. If successful, he/she can choose to take the square’s contents and put a resistor in its place or jump to the square in hopes of gaining a better position on the grid. However, a resistor will be put in the square’s place if none of the other players can answer the question correctly. The value of the power surge question is determined by a set value plus the amount of money displayed on the grid from revealed squares.
o VALUES
- Grid 001: $750
- Grid 010: $1,500
- Grid 011: $2,500
BINARY CODE: 001 = 1; 010 = 2; 011 = 3
• BOOSTS
o STEAL
- The player who finds this square can choose to take money or a square (as indicated on the square) from the player of their choice.
o +1
- The player who finds this square will gain an extra square to add to their flow of current.
o REVEAL
- The player who finds this square has a chance to reveal the location of the power surge square. If he/she can answer their next question correctly, then the other players are blindfolded and the power surge square is revealed. If answered incorrectly, that player is blindfolded and the power surge square is revealed to the other players.
o PRIZE +1
- This is self-explanatory. The player instantly wins a prize, and it's theirs to keep, regardless of the outcome of the game. There are 4 of these squares on the grid. Also, the square is added to their flow of current.
o x2
- This square is going to double the player's total, however, they have to earn it by answering a True-or-False question. If successful, their score is doubled, and it's added to their flow of current. If it's answered incorrectly, the square becomes a resistor, and the player has to move back to the previous square, but will keep control of the board. There are only 2 of these hiding in the grid.
o JACKPOT
- This square is only available in Grid 010. It starts at $10,000 and increases by $2,500 every time it's not won. To win the Jackpot, you have to win the game. You must first answer a multiple-answer question to claim the Jackpot, and then win the game.
• PENALTIES
o RESISTORS
- Resistors are blocks hidden on the grid equal to the number of columns on the grid. If a contestant finds one of the resistors he/she must return to the square they were previously on. A toss-up question will then be ask to determine which of the other players has control of the grid.
o BLACKOUT
- A contestant who finds this square must answer the next question correctly. If they fail to do so, the contestant will lose half of the money they’ve earned in the current round, their path will blackout and be replace by resistors, and they will have to restart their flow using a different path beginning from the outside of the grid. The question becomes a toss-up and the same rules apply for any other player who answers incorrectly.
- If at any time a player becomes completely blocked in by resistors and/or another player’s path, he/she will automatically blackout.
PRIZE MACHINE
The winner of the game gets to pull the lever on the Prize Machine, and whatever pops up, that'll be the Bonus Prize for winning the game, and it's theirs to keep, no matter what happens. Then, the winner goes to play one of the 2 End Games.
