Coming soon(ish)...
This game will be based on the version that ran in the Netherlands until last year. For the uninitiated, here's how we'll play it:
We start the game with 3 five-letter words, worth $30 each. After a ten-letter word (explained below), we progress to three six-letter words valued at $50. After another ten-letter word, we play 3 seven-letter words worth $80 each. After this, we play one final eight-letter word, which starts at $120 and drops by $20 for each guess. The players will alternate guessing on the eight letter word until someone gets it or the money runs out. High scorer after one more ten-letter word comes back in the next game guaranteed and gets to play No Lingo for a chance to multiply their total.
Each player's (or team's) Lingo board starts off with eight numbers marked (in such a manner that it will take at least two words to get a Lingo). The ball hoppers start off with 24 balls: 18 blue (one of which is the question mark, which, as ever, lets you mark off any number on your card), 3 red, and 3 green. A Lingo adds $200 to your score.
Drawing all three green balls from your hopper wins a progressive jackpot, which starts off at $1,000 and increases by $200 for every word guessed correctly. Unlike the Dutch original, the jackpot will carry over from game to game until somebody wins it. Green balls do carry over, so if you get two on your first card and then Lingo, only one green ball will go in the hopper for your second card.
The Ten Letter Word
After every three words, we play one of these. We'll show the players a scrambled 10-letter word, and automatically unscramble three letters in the word. The players must then PM me how many more letters they need unscrambled (from 0-6) and a buzzcode, 1-100. The player who needs the least letters unscrambled (or has the closest buzzcode in case of a tie) gets first chance at solving the word. The word is worth $140 at the start (after the first three letters are unscrambled), and goes down by $20 for each letter needed.
Control of the game is not influenced by the word - whoever solves the word gets the score money, and nothing more.
The Steal
Once per game, if the player or team not in control thinks they know the word, they can play their Steal and take one chance at guessing the word. If they guess it right, they double their score and take control. If they get it wrong, their score is cut in half and control stays with the other team.
The No Lingo round works roughly as stated here. The winning player's money will go through to the round, so a player that wins with $600 (just as an example) has the chance to win $19,200.
I'm planning on having two players for the game, but I'd be willing to do two teams of two if the interest is there.
The thread for the game will go up in the next few days, and I'm hoping to start the game by the middle of the month.
