if there's one thing i hate is when a game show pilot doesn't provide you with all the information you need to understand how to play the game. case in point the 1984 pilot of scrabble. if you ever seen it the pilot basically is based on the last episode of the week where the player with the highest score in the crossword round then faces the player with the fastest scrabble sprint time for a chance at $25,000. my question is what in the world happens on the other 4 days. there's an apparent returning champion who has won some money but how did she earn it? was it from the crossword games?, the scrabble sprint.
so how exactly is this game supposed to be played.
it has actually given me a headache.

My assumption is that on the Monday of the week, there are 5 packets, each with 4 words. The winner of the day's Crossword round selects one packet to play. With the Monday Sprint, I would assume that the Sprint champ and the Crossword champ would play the same 4 words, with the Sprint champ in isolation. Whoever has the faster time is the reigning Sprint champ and faces the winner of the next day's Crossword round, with one fewer packet, and so on. As for the returning champion, my assumption would be that she won the money from the Crossword rounds, as the only money mentioned for the Sprint was the $25,000 which was to be awarded on Friday.
