Oh no.....oh no....oh no no no no no I refer NOT to the San Francisco NFL team, rather...
Happy 49th birthday to "The Price is Right", for it was on this date, September 4th, way back in 1972 that the current version of "Price" debuted on the CBS television network. It was on Labor Day.
Also on that fateful day, two other beloved shows aired "The Joker's Wild" with Jack Barry as host, and "Gambit" with Wink Martindale.
Joker lasted on CBS until June 1975, Gambit until December 1976.
I may be mistaken in this statement, but I dare say I am the only member here at NetGameCentral who was both alive at the time, and remembers watching these shows.
They all aired two days before my first day of Kindergarten.
Of the three, Gambit became an instant obsession with me. I already had an obsession with playing cards and still do to this very day.
I am the proud owner of 2 decks of Gambit cards. I enjoy playing with them very much! They are sensational.
So that's the way it was, some 49 years ago...Monday, September 4th, 1972.
