Time to start our 6th episode of The $40,000 Chain Reaction. The bonus round's been hit for top dollar three out of the last three times. Think you have what it takes to make it four for four? You have to defeat our returning champion, Marc Enyedy, who has $46,750 in total cash winnings.
But before you even get a chance at playing against Marc, you've got to play our qualifying round. The player closest to the right answer, high or low, plays against Marc. And here's your question.
On July 1, 2012, at 11:00am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "The $25,000 Pyramid"; this episode was hosted by Dick Clark. Not counting bonuses from the 7-11 card and any tie-breaker after a score of 21 points to 21 points, how much money was awarded to the contestants in this half-hour episode? We can confirm no individual player swept in the winner's circle for $25,000 -- so please respond in increments of $50 and make sure your answer is lower than $20,050.
This game operates on 24-hour deadlines. I'll reveal the right answer in 24 hours from now.

I'm curious about something. I love the qualifying questions! But when you say "we" watched...who is "we"? You and???
I obviously cannot compete on this show as I'm a writer, but it always is amusing when I see you say "we watched"!
Best,
Bill

For those who've asked about "we", it's me and whoever else happens to be in the production office at the time -- either Pepe, the engineer, or Pablo, the janitor. And second, I think you'll be surprised by the qualifying answer. (ding)$850. The first winner's circle round paid $300 (clearing just the first row; 50 100 150). The second winner's circle round paid $550 (first row plus 250). Looks like the lowest answer wins qualifying. $11,800 mringgenbergIt's Matt Ringgenberg taking on Marc as we play Chain Reaction.
(theme plays; audience applause)The game is -- The $40,000 Chain Reaction -- where one word leads to another -- and the right word could lead to a big payoff.Hellooooo, everybody. I'm Doug Morris and welcome to another week here on The $40,000 Chain Reaction. As you can see, we did a little interior redecorating over the weekend. And I'm -- uh -- waiting for my podium to arrive. (scattered laughter from the crowd) But I'm okay without the podium. When I did that poker show for ten years on another network, I worked without a podium there. In any event, let's welcome our players. Our challenger is Matt Ringgenberg. And our returning champion -- with $46,750 after just one win -- Marc Enyedy. (audience cheers)Let's take a moment and meet our players -- starts with our challenger, Matt. Please tell us about yourself.

Supermarket? You've got the wrong show. Supermarket Sweep's down the hall -- (scattered laughter from the crowd) -- only kidding.
Seriously, great to have you with us on Chain Reaction. Best of luck to you -- and the same luck we wish our returning champion, Marc.
Marc, for those who missed Friday's show, please tell 'em a little about yourself.

Well, I'm 32, from Riverside, NJ, not far from Philadelphia, and I'm in between jobs. All this cash will come in quite handy for me.
