While I am the "elder statesman" of the boards, at least to the best of my knowledge I am anyway...I wanted to share what my avatar change is for this weekend: For well over 50 years, Jerry Lewis hosted a 21 and a half hour nationally televised telethon to raise money and awareness for Muscular Dystrophy. This telethon was a Labor Day tradition in America from the mid 1960s until the mid 2010's. Sadly and very unceremoniously, Jerry Lewis was dismissed by MDA. Sadly we'll probably never know the truth as to why. And while in later decades the show became every bit as old and perhaps as "stale" as wood paneling in a living room (which I personally would love to have again...), it nevertheless was fun to be able to tune in at various times to see what was going on. I feel badly that younger generations never will know about this great cause and that they will have missed out on some pretty amazing things, but then I suppose one cannot miss what one never had either. Jerry's efforts were indeed a labor of love, and it seemed only appropriate that Labor Day weekend would be the time when the telethon would air. May Mr. Lewis, Mr. Ed McMahon who was his announcer and sidekick for a great many years, and all those who passed away due to this disease all rest in peace. And may each and every one of you have a very happy and blessed Labor Day weekend. As much as I adore my new job (I've been there a year and a half already!), it will be nice to have one extra day off this weekend, and also to have a short work week upcoming. Best, Bill
