Back for a somewhat limited time, we're testing audience games here in the workshop.
At least two items are on the agenda -- in this order...
\ The TPiR Shell Game-esque game that was in development and later went nowhere. We *think* we've find the right way to play it.
\ A redux of Roll 4Ward that we think we've kicked up a notch.
...so -- who's in on the first game?

You may, Frank -- but I hope you're a good sport about the prize at stake. Tiffany, please give our player the -- eh -- news. (trip cue plays) Tiffany: It's a trip to -- uh -- historic? -- Nerdocrumbesia!(scattered groans and applause) Frank, you and a guest will fly round-trip, and thankfully not one way,...(scattered laughter) ...from Los Angeles to Nerdocrumbesia. You and your companion will enjoy a no-frills flight on Air Nerdocrumbesia... (more laughter) ...and you'll stay at the seedy Motel Nerdocrumbesia for seven days and three nights.(more laughter) We're also adding $7500 in American Express traveler's checks to somehow make this vacation worth -- $8175. (audience laughs and applause)Aren't ya glad ya volunteered? (more laughter from crowd) All kidding aside, you're actually playing for $675 in cash *plus* the traveler's checks in a game we call Find the Lady. Wally has taken the face cards of spades -- queen, king, and jack. He shuffled them and currently has them face down. All you have to do is pick the queen -- and you literally find the lady and win. But you must *earn* your picks -- and here's how. Those question marks on Wally's readout are about to turn into three random numbers. (FF reveal sfx) And there they are -- 1, 3, and 5. To earn your first of a possible three picks, all you have to do is roll a 1, 3, or 5 with one dice cube.
Frank, please pick a roll code from 1-100.

(audience cheers as Frank rolls) (dings; audience applause) That will work. You've won your first pick. Now to win a second pick, you must roll -- what, Wally? (FF reveal sfx) Seems fair. You had to roll an odd number. Now you need an even number, Frank.
Frank, please pick a roll code from 1-100 excluding 12.

(audience cheers as Frank rolls) (dings; audience applause) And you're two for two with that 2. Now, Frank, if you can win your third pick on this next roll, you'll obviously win more than $8000 in cash and traveler's checks -- but you'll then have a chance to parlay it all into more than $24,000 in cash and traveler's checks. (scattered woos and cheers) So let's see the numbers that could clinch victory for you. (FF reveal sfx) Roll a 1, 4, or 6, Frank, and it's winner winner chicken dinner.
Frank, please pick a roll code from 1-100 excluding 12 and 94.

(audience cheers as Frank rolls) (audience groans) (buzz) Well -- there goes the automatic win with another 2. But you did win two picks. Now for the next phase. (FF reveal sfx) Go ahead and pick two cards at once, please, in the hope of finding the lady.

(ding) Going with the first and third cards. Wally, please flip over the first card and let's see if we find the lady. (scattered groans) (buzz)Not there. A jack instead. Frank, cross your fingers. Wally, please flip over the third card and let's see if we find the lady there. (dings; SCSD win theme plays; audience cheers)There's the lady -- and that's the winner. Just to keep S&P happy, Wally, please show us the middle card. There ya go. Congratulations, Frank.

Okay, friends. One game down -- and one to go -- literally. I just learned my co-workers and I will be, carefully, reporting back to our offices starting Monday -- after working remotely for about three months.
With that, we're about to start the revamped Roll 4Ward. The game offers a chance to win more than $14,000 in cash -- *and* debuts On A Roll's "bad guy". Bullseye had lightning, TJW had the devil, TTD the dragon, the current LMaD has the zonk and OAR has -- well -- you'll see.
Who wants to play? This is open to anyone but Frank in an effort to spread the virtual wealth.

All right, Hunter, let's find out from Tiffany what you could win. (last few seconds of FF76 theme plays; audience cheers)Tiffany: Hunter, you have a chance to win more than $14,000 in cash. Fourteen grand and change can be yours with lucky rolls in our game of... (ding) ...Roll 4Ward. You'll have a minimum of three rolls of a dice cube -- with a chance to win more on a fourth roll. The first three rolls guarantee you'll win money. First roll is for $100 a point, the next $200 a point, and then the third $300 a point. We'll talk more about the Roll 4Ward option after your third. Right now, let's make some money -- as you -- are on a roll. (audience cheers)
Hunter, please respond with a roll code from 1-96. You'll see the results of your selected roll and at least the next two down the list of cube rolls from randomizer.org.

(audience cheers as Hunter rolls specially-made Pick-A-Number cube) Good roll for starters. Four for $400. (ding) Next roll's for $200 a point. Let's see you get a bigger number. (audience cheers as Hunter rolls specially-made Pick-A-Number cube) Another 4. That'll get ya $800. (ding) Total of $1200. Last roll's for $300 a point. Let's see a 6! (audience cheers as Hunter rolls specially-made Pick-A-Number cube) There ya go! (ding) Three grand even. Now, here's why we call the game Roll 4ward. If you'd like, you may take the fourth and final roll -- but there comes an element of risk. If you roll one more time, the number you roll reveals the surprise behind the corresponding dice face. Two surprises are good -- doubling or quadrupling your winnings. Another surprise is meh -- only multiplying your money by one. Then there are the not so good surprises. One of those dice faces will cut your money in half -- and then the remaining *two* dice faces each hide snakes. Run into a snake and we multiply your money by zero. Anything times zero leaves you flat broke. So -- knowing risks and rewards, would you like to stop and keep your money -- or risk it all and roll forward? (audience shouts suggestions)

He's going to keep the money. (audience cheers) Hunter, before we cut you that check for $3000, you know what happens next. You have to satisfy our curiosity. While we can say this, we are Mark Knoller types of folks -- (scattered laughter from crew) -- kind of an inside joke -- who adhere to the belief your right to know overrides your right to exist. (more laughter from crew and audience) Had you rolled forward, Hunter, let's see what would've happened. (Hunter rolls specially-made Pick-A-Number cube) *Another* 4 -- literally rolling *four*-ward to -- what? (audience cheers) [NOTE FROM DOUG: After this game's playing was complete, we've replaced the snakes with symbols representing the hub of the Danger Price board from TPiR. As of this writing, we plan on calling these bad symbols "spoilers". Your host thanks David Frangioso for allowing On A Roll to use the dollar sign he made that you see in the center of the DP board. Please check it out at www.angelfire.com/funky/plinkoman/.] So, Hunter, it's a good thing you bailed out when you did. What did he need to roll to do better than $3000, though? (remaining dice faces are revealed) Needed to roll a 2 or 3 for quadruple or double the dollars. The 1 would've done nothing. The 6 had the other snake eyes and the 5 would've knocked you down to $1500.

Thanks to all for playing. Remember, Big Money Week is coming up soon on "On A Roll" weekdays over most of these CBS stations.
