Two time winner Kevin Kolsen has $34,550 in cash and prizes. He is in need of a new challenger at this time.
Kevin and as yet unknown challenger, would you kindly check in with me via private message? When doing so, please include the following:
Your name & brief biographical information.
Twenty buzz codes ranging from 1 - 100 (inclusive).
Some rule revisions have been posted in the "Announcements" section. Kindly take a few minutes to review those.
Once I hear from Kevin and his opponent via p.m., we will get started.
If more than one would-be challenger sends a p.m., the first to do so will get to play this episode. Any others will be on a waiting list in the order upon which the private messages are received.
I will make every effort to indicate as soon as possible when a new challenger has contacted me via private message.
Thanks!
Bill

That is very nice of you Michael. I'm putting a giant post it note in my Gambit PM notebook to make certain I have you on for episode #9.
Episode 8 will begin later today, (very soon probably), unless power goes out or the computer freezes up or something.

That's me! (cheering & applause) (hopping up on my chair, knocking on the wall behind me) A very pleasant good evening, and welcome to another exciting edition of "Gambit P.M.". On our last program we introduced two new features, which you'll see again today at the end of our program. A lot of cash and a new automobile waiting to be won. So let us wait no further, let's say good evening first of all to our lovely dealer, who also happens to be my niece, she'll also introduce our contestants, it's Lynn Jennings! (applause) Good evening Lynn! Good evening Uncle Bill, and good evening everybody! picosong.com/q789/First, all the way from Iowa, tonight's challenger, he's a courtesy clerk at a supermarket, Matt Ringgenberg! (applause) And returning for his third night, our current champion who has won cash and prizes thus far totally $34,550, he's an accountant from Long Island, New York, Kevin Kolsen! (applause) Lynn: Gentlemen, good evening and good luck. Gentlemen, good evening to you both. Matt, our current challenger, you are a courtesy clerk. Does that entail tasks other than that of a cashier, or is ringing up a person's total part and parcel of your job?

None of those Bill. It's most various tasks such as cleaning, stocking, and rounding up carts.

Whenever I go to the market, I always am certain to return the cart to the designated area. Many customers do not. I hope at your store the customers do that for you at least.
I hope that things align just right for you here tonight as well Matt. Good luck. You're up against a fine champion.
Kevin, back with us. Going for win #3. If you win tonight Kevin, you'll have a 3 out of 6 chance at winning the car, plus $50,000 in cash too!
Before we begin this match, is there anybody you'd like to say "Hello!" to?
(((side note, I know the current snowstorm is affecting parts where you live Kevin, so if you're not able to reply for a while, I'll keep the game on hold until you're able to again)))

I'm fine. Two feet of snow but I'm in the midst of shoveling out. I want to say hi to those watching on my affiliate, CBS-2. Mom, dad, my two brothers, my sister, my boss and my office manager! Hey!

I too have been shoveling here, although not nearly to the extent you probably have had to! Good luck in digging out, and good luck as you go for win number 3 here on "Gambit P.M." Kevin. Before we begin, we have to put Lynn and Matt to work now. Lynn has just broken the seal on a brand new freshly shuffled deck of 52 large playing cards. It is, except for its size, a standard deck. They were shuffled prior to us going on the air under the every watchful CBS eyeball of Standards & Practices. At this time Matt, since you are today's challenger, you have the privilege of cutting the cards. Please select a number higher than zero, but lower than 52. This will represent how deep into the deck the cards will be cut.

Cutting them thin to win... We play the best 2 out of 3 game match. The winner of the match then goes on to play the all cash Gambit Board, followed by a chance to go for the car. If Kevin wins, it will be his third win and he'll have a 3 out of 6 chance at the car. If Matt wins he will have a 1 out of 6 chance at the car. The winner of Game #1 will also play a mini-bonus game we call "Beat the Dealer". We'll have that in a little while from now. Also, the winner of this first game will receive a very nice prize too. Frank, let's hear about that please. Frank Caliendo (as Kenny Williams): It's a wine cooler... Frank Caliendo (as Kenny Williams): from Avallon, this 30 bottle capacity, black and stainless steel wine cooler combines luxury and style to create a superior storage environment for your treasured wine collection. Retail value, $800. Also, $50 per point to the winner of game 1, with a house minimum of $500. Finally, Any 21 of course is an instant win, $1,050 plus the Any 21 Jackpot which right now stands at... (CLANG) One-thousand dollars. We pay double the jackpot for a 2-card 21. For each game it is not won, we will add $250 to the Any 21 Jackpot. As always, Lynn will reveal the first card, and only the first card of each game. Lynn, what's our first card for tonight's match? (applause) A very good cut I'd say Matt. For a King of Clubs players... Green Yellow or Blue... What color was part of a sitcom title from the 1960's starring Eva Gabor? Kevin?

Green.

Let's go to the video tape for the answer... Roll 'em! And Green is RIGHT! That earns you $100 in green Kevin! That also gives you control over that King Kevin. Do you wish to keep it or pass it to Matt?

I'll gladly take it!

Not at all a surprise to hear that Kevin. Once a player achieves a score of 12 or higher, if they are in the lead, they will be given the option to freeze and protect their score or continue. Playing for $100 and control of the next card which we will not yet reveal. 4 Years 6 Years or 8 Years... How long does one term last for a United States Senator? Kevin's in first again.

Six years.

Correct! (applause) Another $100 for you Kevin and you control the fate of the next card. Do you wish to keep it or pass it to Matt?

If it is an Ace, it will be an instant win for you. Lynn... (the audience reacts with an "OOOOHHH!!!" & applause) Well Matt, if this was Super Pay Cards you'd also have a very good hand. A pair of Kings equals 20. You have a score above 11 and are in the lead. You may freeze or continue. What's your pleasure Kevin?

Just realized, you could use those pair of Kings as a monogram!

I'll monogram my podium...I mean freeze!

LOL, freezing at 20.
Matt, this means you have to get 21 to win game #1 of this match.
To continue earning cards, you must come up with correct answers. One wrong answer, or if time expires (48 hour deadline from the time the question is posted), you will be stopped, and Kevin will win game #1 and $1,000.
Matt, here is your first question...
A topical question too as this team has been in the news, to a slight degree of late...
A horseshoe A horse head or A saddle... What appears on the helmet of the NFL's Indianapolis Colts football team?

A Horseshoe

|
|
Post by billmcdee on Jan 29, 2015 19:21:21 GMT -5
A horseshoe is indeed correct! (applause) $100 for that and here's your first card Matt... (gasps & applause from the audience). Kevin's face just turned as white as the recently driven snow... Matt, if your next card is a 10, Jack, Queen or one of the 2 remaining Kings in the deck, you'll not only win game #1, but a $2,000 bonus as well. But in order to get that next card, you must get this question correct. Led Zeppelin The Doors or The Grateful Dead... Which group featured Jerry Garcia?

The Grateful Dead

Right again! (applause) Lynn, deal up the next card please... TWENTY-ONE!!!!!! picosong.com/4U4j/In the immortal words of Bozo the Clown...'Wowie Kazowie!". Matt you needed a 21 to win, you GOT a 21 to win, $200 in cash for your 2 correct answers, $1,050 for your 21, a $2,000 bonus for double the Any 21 Jackpot, and the wine cooler, a total in cash and prizes for just one game, $4,050! (applause) Kevin, if you were like Superman and had x-ray vision, or if you were clairvoyant like Miss Cleo, you obviously would have tried to snatch that Ace for a 21 win yourself. As it is, $200 for winning 2 toss-up questions, plus $500 in cash for your 20, since we pay $25 per point to the runner-up if they don't go over 21, so $700 in cash for you thus far today. And as we have seen many times, the player who is down 1 game to love seems to win games 2 and 3 and takes the match. We'll see if that happens tonight. Meantime, we're going to take a quick time out, catch our breath, and have Matt play one hand against Lynn and a possible mini-bonus of $2,500 in cash. "Beat the Dealer" coming up next! A lot more fun and excitement to come, so please stay tuned!
