Quick question on answer deadlines

What would you say is an acceptable time limit to give for your contestants, especially in games with multiple players? Or, is there an unwritten rule on this topic that I’m missing.
For instance, I’m giving my players 48 hours to make a decision on the current net game that I’m hosting, so would it be a stretch to shorten it to 24 hours if I want to speed it up a bit?

24 hours may be a bit of a stretch.  I've always used 48 hours for various reasons.

Power outages, sudden illnesses, unexpected personal or family emergencies.

Generally speaking though, it's been my experience as a host that although I give 48 hour deadlines, almost always those playing my games reply within a 24 hour window.
