When we last left off, Clara Solsak became our new champion, picking up $31,527 in cash and prizes, including a trip to Cairo, Egypt. Mark Liotta has expressed interest in competing in this episode, so I'll need Clara and Mark to sign in, and we'll need one more challenger.

Me: They're alright, but I just hope I can keep the franchise afloat. Greg's done this show for many years, so I have some big shoes to fill.

Burton: Don't worry about it, you'll be fine. You've had plenty of time to practice and rehearse. 

(Director Mario Silvestri walks in)

Mario: We've got 60 seconds to showtime, Hunter.

Me: Be right out. Let's go, Burton.

(we walk out of the dressing room, and make our way to the set)

Burton: Just remember, be yourself, don't be afraid to have a little fun with the players. You've got this. I'll be in the booth if you need anything.

Me: Thanks, Burton.

(I wait just behind the doors as we fade to a shot of our champion)

Welcome to $ale of the Century. Now, don't adjust your sets, you are not seeing things. My name is Hunter Dillon, and I was selected by the good folks at Grundy and NBC to take over as the new permanent emcee of this program, so I thank everyone involved with the show for giving me the opportunity.

(applause)

Now, not only am I new around here, but we've made a few changes to the show that I know you're going to enjoy, but before we get to all of that, we've got to say hello to our returning champion, Clara Solsak. Welcome back, Clara!

Me: Thanks, Stacey. It really is a great show to be a part of, and I'm thrilled to be here.

Stacey: And we're excited to have you here. It's going to be a lot of fun working with you.

Me: Welcome to you both. Now Mark, Stacey said you are a self-proclaimed Mario-holic. Care to explain that for us?

Certainly. I think what Stacey meant when she introduced me is that I like playing a lot of video games involving Mario. Examples being classic Mario Party, Mario Kart and his newest adventure for the Switch, Super Mario Odyssey.

Stacey: Ooh, I've played that game before, and it's a blast. Hunter, have you tried Super Mario Maker 2 yet?

Me: No, I haven't. I don't even own a Switch.

Stacey: That's alright, after the show, I'll let you try it on mine.

Indeed, I have a modest collection of DVDs featuring old sitcoms from the 1950s through 1980s.

I also enjoy watching classic vintage game show programming on youtube and on Buzzr as well including old $ale of the Century episodes.

And I think it's most appropriate that you are now hosting this show as it features many a bargain, Hunter

Well I go in waves...I will have I Love Lucy for a while, then switch off to Three's Company, or Gilligan's Island, I have the Batman 1966 series on DVD, then there's All in the Family, The Honeymooners, The first four seasons of Mary Tyler Moore, and on and on...also other classic non-sitcom DVDs I own too, Adam-12, Emergency and recently acquired the 1960s Lost in Space set which is out of this world (chuckling).
