Hey everyone! I know I haven't been very active on the site since joining but I have a issue that some of you maybe able to help me with.
Like most of you I'm a big fan of a lot of BigJon's games. I feature a lot of them on my YouTube channel MVG Productions. He did a wonderful job of recreating some of the best games of all time but there are issues with a few of them. A lot of them require a vast number of questions in them to make their replay value that much better. (i.e. Tic Tac Dough, Joker's Wild, Bullseye etc.) Well being that I have had so much fun with all of these games I want to give back and make my contribution to the fun.
I would like to create new question databases for the games. The thing about it is when I try to take a look at the databases that are already in the game I keep getting an error that says basicly I can't open this file because it was created in a different version of Windows access. Since I can't open up the files to look at the file structure of them, this is where I need your help.
I have a few questions that I need answered so I can get started on this project and hopefully be able to share my work with everyone here so they can add to their games and continue to enjoy the fun.
1) If possible how do I gain access to the old files using Access 2016?
2) Does anyone know what kind of format to use when setting up the database so that the games can read the questions from them? I know that it sets it up similar to a spreadsheet format kinda like Excel uses but I know there must be a lot more to it than that.
3) Provided I can get a structure in place for the databases for each game. What kinda of categories would you like to see? I will start with the basic 6 from Trivial Pursuit (Geography, Entertainment, History, Art & Literature, Science & Nature, Sports & Leisure) and will expand on them from there.
Any and all help that you can give me on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and play on everyone.
