As Mark had promised, I am returning to the hosting stage with my version of Bullseye. I am making a few rule changes, though, to increase the stakes and correct any flaws from the original TV version.
FRONT GAME - Values are $200-$400 in $50 increments. - Contracts are 2-5, inclusive, with Bullseyes and “Opponent’s Choice” attached to some numbers. - The goal is $2,500. - If a contestant misses the question, the contract ends right then and there. The opponent immediately gets control of the game. - Money can only be banked after a complete contract. Because of this, a game can only be won on a complete contract. The only exception is, of course, on a Bullseye, when the game and contract end when the contestant would have at least $2,500.
BONUS - Values are $250-$1,000, with Bullseyes and Lightning behind one window. - Reach $5,000 to win the cash and a trip. - Get 3 Bullseyes (freezing optional) to double the bank (minimum guarantee of $5,000) and win the trip. - Get 3 Bullseyes in one spin to win the trip and a jackpot starting at $25,000 and increasing $1,000 a game until won.
All other rules are the same as the TV version. So, I need 2 players. Who’s in?

No you won't. I made it clear last summer that you're not to play any net games anymore due to your repeated disappearing acts. Sergio gets your spot.

It's fine Sergio. In any case, you get Raymond's spot. Jonathan, you may proceed.

Thanks, Mark.
I had a hunch that Raymond was under a ban, but wasn’t sure. Thanks for catching that. I’ll start shortly with Sergio and David, with Sergio being our “designated champion.”

Sergio and David, let’s start.
(Pilot theme - “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” plays)
JIM THORNTON: This is the game where daring determines the fate of the players! This is the game of knowledge and luck! This is...(Lightning crash)
BULLSEYE
(Theme continues as crowd applauds)
JIM: And here’s our host, JON DARRALL!
ME: Thanks, Jim, and thank you, everyone, for joining us today. As promised, you’re about to see two people put their knowledge and daring to the test for a possible payout of over $25,000! Here are those first two players now! Jim?
(Contestant cue)
JIM: Our first player is a student from Novelda, Spain! Meet Sergio Roman Rodriguez! Our second player is from Virginia, and his name is David Barkow! Good luck, gentlemen!
ME: Thanks, Jim, and welcome to the game, players. The rules are simple: accumulate $2,500 by answering questions in contracts. Complete the contract, and you stay in control; fail, and your opponent takes control. Your contract is determined by our game board, and it’s windows. The top two windows have categories and values, while the bottom window has your contract. Be careful, though! A Bullseye or Opponent’s Choice can change the game in a hurry. Here are the categories we’re playing in this game, starting on the left...
(Left window displays, with a chime after each)
HIP-HOP MUSIC
ANIMAL KINGDOM
ANCIENT HISTORY
STATE CAPITALS
And on the right...
(Window displays, with a chime after each)
SPORTS STARS
FOOD & BEVERAGES
VOCABULARY QUIZ
GRAB BAG
ME: Sergio, you’re our designated champ, so you’ll start. We’ll shuffle the board (shuffling effect) and you press your buzzer when ready.
(SERGIO, please give me 3 numbers, 1-20, inclusive. You may repeat numbers. This will determine the result of your shuffle.)

(Sergio presses the buzzer...reveal effects)
HIP-HOP MUSIC $300
GRAB BAG $200
ME: And the contract is...
5, OPPONENT’S CHOICE
(Audience reacts)
ME: Right away, we see the Opponent’s Choice contract. The contract is 5 questions, which Sergio must answer. DAVID, you get to choose the category. Will it be Hip-Hop Music for $300, or Grab Bag for $200?

Yes. It’s anything and everything. The contract is 5 questions, $200 apiece, for a total of $1,000. Question 1...
This city, lying on two continents, was known in Ancient Times as Byzantium, and as Constantinople until the Ottomans sacked the city in 1453. For $200 in the pot, name the city.

ME: Can we take that?
JUDGE OVER PA: That is an acceptable foreign pronunciation and spelling, so yes. Proceed with the next question.
ME: OK! Moving on, for $400...
Her breakout TV role was as teenage detective Veronica Mars, and her breakout film role was as the title character in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” Now, she stars as Eleanor on TV’s “The Good Place” and is married to Dax Shepard. For $400 in the pot, name her.

That’s it!
(Audience applauds)
You now have a crucial decision to make. There’s $1,000 in the pot. You can bank it, and it’s yours, win or lose, but you’d give control to David. Or, you can play on, keeping control and trying to build up the pot. One miss, though, and David takes control.
What do you want to do? Bank, or play on?
(Sergio, if you want to play on, let me know, then give me your 3 numbers)
