A new week of shows and some new rules.
I want to thank Greg Palmer and James Emerson for this first idea.
I will send via private message to both Nathan and whoever elects to challenge him 20 questions. I will request that both players respond with their answers as well as a buzzcode from 1 - 100, inclusive. This will help move the game along a little bit faster.
In order to score $100 and earn a card, the player must now come up with a right answer. In the event that both players give the same incorrect answer to a question, the player who did not buzz in first will get to amend the answer at that moment.
Once a player freezes, if the other player misses a question, as always, the player who has frozen will win, but will NOT earn $100 by default for an incorrect answer.
All questions will now be answered as A, B, or both. For example, a question might be...
A - Lou Grant B - Ted Knight
And all questions will be in the form of "A, B, or both?"
For example:
A, B, or both? Characters from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"
The correct answer in this case is A, Lou Grant. It would not be B since Ted Knight was the name of the actor who portrayed the character Ted Baxter.
BEAT THE DEALER - The winner of the first game of the match will still play "Beat the Dealer" during the second segment of the show. The jackpot will start at $2,500 and grow by $500 per show not won. One difference now is only the player will receive cards until he busts or freezes. It's only after he freezes that the dealer will start drawing cards, making winning this a little more challenging than before. As before, the dealer must draw on all scores 16 or less, and must freeze on all hands 17 or more, including a "soft" 17. If the game ends in a draw, the contestant will win $1,000. If the player gets 21, it's an automatic win for the player, and the dealer will not draw any cards.
GAMBIT BOARD - The Any 21 Jackpot will now start at $10,000 and grow by $500 per show until won. Any 21 will now win the automobile too. The automobile will be a lesser value vehicle now that it will become slightly easier to win. As before, a 2 card 21, also known as a Blackjack, will win double the Any 21 jackpot plus the car.
There will now be a second + or - 1 card added onto the board. A player will get to pick again now if either of these cards is selected.
Another new card added will be "Red or Black?". The player will win $1,000 for that instantly. If that card is selected, and the player can correctly predict if the next card will be red or black, and that card does not put him over 21, he will win another $1,000 as well.
As before, if a player beats the required score, they will also win $250 per point scored. The game ends once they beat the required score or if they go over 21. If a player is in jeopardy of going over 21, they will have the option to quit and just take $250 per point at that moment, or risk it to try to win the additional cash and prizes from the board.
If there are no further questions, I would like for Nathan to check in at this time, as well as somebody who would like to challenge him for episode #6.
There is no limit to winnings. Players remain on until they lose a best 2 out of 3 game match. They can win a limitless number of cars and cash, etc.
At this time I'd like to ask Nathan to check in, and also his, as yet unnamed challenger to do so as well.
Once that has been done, I will P.M. to you both the 20 questions that I have prepared for this match, and ask you to provide the answers and your buzzcodes at that time.
Thank you very much!
Bill

Very glad to have you Kevin! I will message you the 20 questions. I will then ask you reply with the answers as well as a buzzcode for each answer. Also, I'll ask if you would kindly include a short bio about yourself. Finally, I'll have you select a number higher than 0 but lower than 52 Kevin to represent how deep into the deck you'd like to cut the cards Nathan, although you've not checked in yet, I'm going to send you the 20 questions momentarily too!

Still awaiting Nathan to reply to check in and reply to my p.m.
I checked the vacation thread and nothing was posted there.
If I do not hear back from him by this evening, I will request another challenger to take on Kevin. If Nathan should surface afterward, whoever wins between the 2 new challengers will take Nathan on during the next match. Of course if we hear from Nathan before, it will be Kevin vs. Nathan.
Hope all is well with you Nathan, where ever you are.

Nathan contacted me. He will not be available for episode #6. He will for episode #7, so I will need one more challenger at this time who will be able to participate and take on Kevin. The winner of this match will take on Nathan in episode 7.
Who would like to play?

Surprisingly, no. The place I work at is a low-rise about a twenty-minute drive from where I live. It's a very easy commute going there and coming back.

That is definitely a huge benefit to be sure! And Lynn said you like to do writing. Do you do prose, poetry, fiction?

It's mainly fan-fiction but I've done a few songs, some parodies, some original.

I fancy myself a writer of sorts as well. Good luck tonight.
And your opponent, all the way from Alabama, James Greek! James, welcome aboard. I too am a fan of classic television. I have a modest collection of classic television series on DVD. What are some of your favorite classics James?

So a nice mixture of comedy with drama. As for me, some of my favorite classics are black and white oldies Good luck today James as we play Gambit in full living color here on CBS night time. As you know players, we play the best 2 out of 3 game match. The winner of game 1 will get to play a special mini bonus game during our next segment. The idea is to get 21, or as close to 21 as possible without going over. Cards are earned by correctly answering questions. Kevin, Lynn has just broken the seal on a new deck of cards. You have just cut them for us, and we're ready to proceed. The winner of the game earns $50 per point scored, with a house minimum of $500. But if you score a 21, it's an instant win, $1,050 for the 21 plus the Any 21 Jackpot. It was hit on our last show, so for Game#1 it is worth... (ding) $1,000 additional dollars in cash. If you score 21 with just 2 cards, then you win... (ding ding) Double, or $2,000. All of our questions now are based on the format A, B or Both? We will give you 2 choices and you have to correctly say whether it's A, B or both. For example.... A. 17 B. 25 C. Both..... Odd numbers. The answer would of course be C. Both.... If you buzz in and are wrong, your opponent will then get to answer. You must give a correct answer to win $100 and earn control of the card. It's a standard 52 card deck we use here on Gambit P.M. We always show the first card at the start of each game, Lynn... For a 5... A - BUGS BUNNY B - POPEYE THE SAILOR MAN A, B, OR BOTH? CREATED PRIOR TO THE START OF AMERICA'S INVOLVEMENT IN WORLD WAR II Kevin you rang in first. Kevin's answer was B, and I'm sorry to say that is incorrect Kevin. James, to win $100 and control of the 5, is the correct answer A. Bugs Bunny or is the correct answer Both?

Believe it or not, the answer was both. Another question... A - A SQUARE B - A PENTAGON A, B, OR BOTH? CONTAINS AN EVEN NUMBER OF SIDES Kevin? Kevin's answer is A and that is correct for $100! (applause) Do you want that 5 or pass it to James?

As we used to say back in the day, "Give me 5!" Now, for $100 and control of the next card, which will not be revealed until after its fate has been decided, here's the next question... A - NEW YORK JETS B - KANSAS CITY CHIEFS A, B, OR BOTH? APPEARED IN THE FIRST SUPER BOWL Kevin, you are first. Kevin - "B". Bill - B is correct! (applause) Kevin, do you want the next card, or pass it to James?

Lynn, what has Kevin kept for himself? (audience groans) Ah, turnabout is fair play.... Heading into the third inning, the score is 5 to 4! Next $100 toss-up question... A - PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY B - PRESIDENT WOODROW WILSON A, B, OR BOTH? PRESIDENTS WHO WERE DEMOCRATS picosong.com/9RTa/James? James' answer is BOTH, and Both is correct! (applause) $100 for you now James and control of the next card in front of Lynn. Do you wish to keep that card or pass it James?

To go with a 5... It's a 9, total of 14... At this point James, if you wish, you may elect to freeze. If you elect to continue playing, you will not be allowed to freeze until you receive another card. Given the score, do you want to continue playing, or freeze and force your opponent to get 15 or better?

Very well James, we'll see if that score of 14 holds up. Kevin, what this means for you is you need a score of 15 or more, without going over 21 to win game number one of this match. In order to do that, you must come up with correct answers to earn additional cards. If you give a wrong answer or if you go over 21, the first game of the match will go to James. Kevin, here's your first question... A - MORTICIA B - WEDNESDAY A, B, OR BOTH? FEMALE MEMBERS OF THE ADDAMS FAMILY Kevin's answer - BOTH. And that is... Correct for $100! (applause) An Ace will give you the win Kevin. Lynn? A big King... Now giving you a 14 as well Kevin. There are no ties on Gambit, and since James "owns" the 14, you have to beat it. This next card will decide who wins. First, another question to earn the next card. Kevin... A - THE WHAMMY B - THE DEVIL A, B, OR BOTH? JACK BARRY BONUS GAME ITEM Kevin - "B". Kevin that is... Correct again! (applause) Another $100 for that correct answer, and that keeps you in this game Kevin. Any card 7 or less wins game 1 for you Kevin. Lynn, let's find out....will it be Kevin or will it be James? picosong.com/fTwB/TOO MUCH! And the game goes to James! picosong.com/3zeF/Well James, as Frank says at the start of the show, you have the knowledge, you know the odds, all the rest is in the cards. You were wise to freeze on that 14, and as such, you take the first game in this best 2 out of 3 match. 14 multiplied by $50 means you win another $700, giving you a total of $800 already. In a moment or two from now, James will play our new version of "Beat the Dealer", where he might win some bonus holiday cash. So go grab some egg nog, or wrap a Christmas present or two, or have yourself a sugar cookie, because we're going to take a time out. James versus Lynn in "Beat the Dealer" when we return!

If you are just joining us, Merry Christmas! We're at the portion of the show where the winner of the first game of our match, James, will be playing a mini bonus game called "Beat the Dealer". James, we're playing this just a little bit differently than before. We are using the same deck of cards that was used during game #1. Lynn will deal cards to you, and only you to begin. Once your score reaches 12 or higher, we'll ask if you wish to take another card or freeze. Once you have frozen, Lynn will begin dealing up her hand. She must take another card if her score is 16 or lower. She must stop once any of her card combinations totals 17 or higher. James, if your score beats Lynn's, you will win the Beat the Dealer Jackpot. It was won 4 out of 5 shows last week, including last Friday, so it once again starts at... (clang) Two-thousand five-hundred dollars! (applause) James, if you go over 21, or if Lynn beats you, you win nothing. If you and Lynn tie, you will still win $1,000. Finally James, if you get 21, the game ends, as that would make you an instant winner, and Lynn won't even get to draw any cards for herself! So here we go! Good luck James. Lynn, what is James' first card? (audience hoots, hollers and goes "OOOOH!!!!") A 10, Jack, Queen or King means an instant win and $2,500 for you James. Lynn....do you have it for him? YOU GOT IT!!!!!!!!! www.fileswap.com/dl/7IcdqlFbv3/GambitBlackjackCheerApplause.mp3.htmlMerry Christmas to you James! All you had to do was sit there and have the lovely Lynn deal you 2 cards, and just like that, another $2,500 in cash! James, that must feel pretty nice I imagine, yes?
