JIM: Your boss, Jennifer, had visited Sony Studios to meet me and asked if I could fill in for the vacationing Shadoe Stevens. I couldn't say no, you know... Not only that, this stage was once used in classic game shows like "Card Sharks" and America's Game-- Audience: WHEEL! OF! FORTUNE!(laughter, applause)

Hello Doug! It's great to be here on Match Game! I warn you I might be drunk on our show, just like you were last week.
(scattered cheers and applause)

Since Shadoe Stevens is on vacation, "Wheel of Fortune" (and "Gambit") announcer Jim Thornton will be our guest announcer on this episode. Don't worry, folks... because Shadoe will return on tomorrow's presentation.
Right now, we have a champion who had won his second match and amassed a total of well over $100,000 in cash and merchandise. We'll meet him in the second half. Right now, we'll start the first half with our main man Doug. Ready to roll, Mr. Morris?

Indeed! Let the games begin. (audience cheers) (hosts fist bump each other a la DOND; Tony heads to panel; Doug heads to players' desks) And keep cheering for our challengers, Nathan Diniz and Kourtney Wilson. (audience cheers) Let's take a moment to chat before we begin Match Game. Nathan, please tell us something about yourself.

Nah nah I'm joking. I should have a spelling category on Tic Tac Dough, however.

(scattered laughter from crowd) They have something else in common. We'll deal with that shortly. Nathan, Kourtney, good luck to you both. Here in Match Game, you'll have as many as three chances to match as many... ...of these reps from the San Antonio Spurs front office as you possibly can. (audience laughs and applauds) If you've followed my Spurs in the off-season, you know we could use some good news. Good news for you is you'll win cash each time you match a star. Player who's matched more stars after Round 3 wins Match Game, $500 and a shot at more cash in Hollywood Squares against our champ. Winner there goes to the Super Match where you could win a ten-day contract with the Spurs -- (scattered laughter from crowd) -- or perhaps even $100,000. (audience cheers) (Doug pushes button on toaster revealing Round 1 questions) Now that I've gotten some frustration out of my system, Nathan, you'll start off Round 1 by picking one of the queries. A or B?

I thought you'd call us new members of the Baltimore Orioles given the Machado trade. L.A.'s got him now, you know?

I'll try B

(Doug grabs B; walks to panel) B it is -- and here's the question for the Orioles. Actually, this question's sports related -- although it doesn't deal with basketball or baseball. Si the Sports Guy said, "Isn't it obvious why Team Nerdocrumbesia didn't qualify for the World Cup? Instead of a soccer ball, the players on the team kept kicking BLANK." (audience laughs and applauds) (think music plays)

Speaking of the World Cup, aren't you glad Fox picked it up? They picked up Thursday Night Football, too. Now I won't have to be a lead-out for the local news.

Scribes spark a conversation about another network. Bosses love 'em for that. Nathan, you look eager to answer. Please let me read the question one more time. Si the Sports Guy said, "Isn't it obvious why Team Nerdocrumbesia didn't qualify for the World Cup? Instead of a soccer ball, the players on the team kept kicking BLANK."
