(pre-opening) (About an hour after the call from Friday. In Greg's dressing room, there's a knock on his door.) Greg: It's open! (The door opens, and in walks Heather Locklear.) Heather: Mr. Palmer? (Greg turns his chair around and sees her) Greg: Well, well, well. If it isn't Amanda Woodward. Or is it Sammy Jo Carrington? No..... Officer Stacy Sheridan. Heather: You know me too well. But tonight, I'm just Heather.Greg: (grinning) Of course you are. Our Special Guest Star. And that's exactly what you are tonight. (Heather giggles) Heather: I know. I heard about Stacey.Greg: Yeah. She could be deported back to Australia. Which really isn't a bad place to be deported to. Go ahead and shut the door, please. We've got a lot to do. (Heather closes the door. Just then, Burton walks past, and he can hear the distinctive giggle of Heather Locklear. He busts the door open, thinking he's sparing Greg's dignity/virginity....) Burton: All right, you slut! I won't let you have your way with.....(only to find Greg and Heather playing poker) Burton: ....Greg.Greg: Now, Burton, is that any way to talk to our Special Guest Star? (Heather looks up from her hand and shyly waves) Burton: But..... she's... she's....Greg: Single, and old enough to be my mother. Heather, this is Burton Richardson, my announcer. Heather: We've met, actually. The Arsenio Hall Show? (she discards two cards) Burton: Uh.... yeah, yeah, I remember now. What was I thinking?Greg: I don't know. [Melrose Place THEME][The scene starts with random, downtown shots of Century City at night. Suddenly, as the music kicks in, the scenes get more "interesting". We see a blue oval superimposed on the screen with the letters "WPB" in white inside it. Below it, we see "WEST PICO BOULEVARD" in all caps on one line. Those two disappear as we see the $ale gang walking down the parking lot, hanging out. We also get various shots of the gang together in a pool hall as Greg attempts to sink a ball. Suddenly, the screen becomes letterboxed.] STARRING
IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER [We find Tony sailing his boat in Melbourne, followed by a slow-motion scene of him circa 1989 "running" to his lectern. Finally, a side glance of him facing the camera.] TONY BARBER[Shot of Mitch rapping for the audience before a show. Followed by a loose close up of him.] MITCHELL LEWIS[Shot of Katy in swimsuit and sunglasses getting a tan, followed by a head shot of her cheekily playing with her glasses and smiling.] KATY LOEBRICH[Kelly, dressed in a tux, gets out of an Aston Martin in rehearsal. Head shot of Kelly smiling.] KELLY McCULLEN[Short scene of the gang at the studio commissary, laughing and enjoying each other's company.] [Shot of Greg as he attempts to replicate Grant Show's shirtless scene as he opens his refrigerator at home wearing nothing but a pair of blue jeans. Unfortunately, he's not as fit as Grant Show. Oh well. Finally, a shot of him smiling at the camera.] GREG PALMER[Shot of Burton at an outdoor cafe, people-watching. He then passes somebody on the street. Loose close up of him smiling.] BURTON RICHARDSON[Shot of Glenn in his sportscar, speeding down the highway; followed by a scene of him circa 1995 walking to his lectern. Shot of him smiling.] GLENN RIDGE[Shannon walks down the hall in a power suit, followed by a Courtney Thorne-Smith esque shot of her smiling.] SHANNON VICKERY[Stacey gets chased around Los Angeles by a group of admirers. She sticks her tongue at the camera before smiling.] STACEY WREN[Random shots of Amanda from Seasons 2-7 and the CW revival] HEATHER LOCKLEAR
AS HERSELF [Behind-the-scenes footage of the show, plus establishing shots of elsewhere at 20th Century Fox Studios.] CREATED BY
AL HOWARD (drumroll)(shot of Frank) Burton Richardson: (VO) So far, Frank Satori has won cash and prizes totaling.....[OPENING THEME]
Tonight, one of our contestants could win a human-powered car, diamond earrings, or a wine tour around the world!
And continue a journey towards a fortune in cash and prizes including this Aston Martin DB11 V8......
And thousands of dollars in cash! In total, over.....
--on.....
(echo) And now, here's the star of our show, GREG PALMER!(wild cheers and applause as the doors open and I run to my lectern)Greg: Thank you. Thank you very much, Burton. Hello, hello, hello. (applause continues) My goodness, stroking the host's ego will not improve your chances of getting a door prize. Thank you very much, good evening, and welcome to $ale of the Century. We're awfully excited, because we've got some big news to share with each and every one of you. But first, we crowned a new champion last show. He started off winning the contestant search with NBC Boston, and here he is now. Frank Satori! (short cheers and applause) Hiya, Frank. Welcome back. Now, on our last show, Frank corrected me on camera saying that I was perhaps a bit too forward with the questions. So, Frank, I'm going to let you lead the interview. Whatever it is you want me to ask you, go ahead and answer your own question. I don't want to screw up again.

Well, that's very nice of you, Frank. Now, here's the big news I wanted to share. Starting on Monday, we'll be having our "Clearance $ale" week on our show. We'll have three new players every night, and should the winner of each match not win the Lot, they'll have a chance on Friday's show to win said Lot. That means, somebody will win the Lot by week's end. Frank, should you win tonight, you will be back on Monday for a chance at the guaranteed Lot. And then, should you win your match on Monday and not win the Lot that night or Friday night, you will be back as our returning champion the next Monday. Now, did you get all that?

You're not kidding. And here to introduce the challengers is one of the stars of that short-lived sitcom Going Places..... and some Aaron Spelling primetime soap for Fox. Heather Locklear! (Heather walks out to cheers and applause) Heather: Hi, Greg. I'm so glad you mentioned Going Places. That was a fun show.Greg: Sure was. I've never seen it, but anything Miller-Boyett must be good. So, what are you doing now? Heather: Collecting residuals and pleading not guilty.Greg: For what? Heather: Well, my boyfriend and I had a fight, and now I'm charged with four counts of battery and one count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer. (audience reacts) Greg: Looks like all those fight scenes on Melrose Place paid off. Heather: Are you seriously turning this into a joke?Greg: Oh no, I was completely serious. There's a great deal of schadenfreude going through the Melrose fanbase now. Everyone keeps saying you're not like Amanda, and yet here you are. Heather: You're a jerk!Greg: I'm sorry, you're the one who brought up your arrest. Who are our two challengers? (As Heather introduces the contestants, models of the opposite gender escort them to their seats)Heather: Well, our first challenger is a student who loves to collect trading cards. From Chesnee, South Carolina, here's Anthony Long. (cheers and applause) And he's unemployed. From Virginia, welcome David B. (cheers and applause) Greg: Thank you very much. David B., you're unemployed. Do you have any aspirations for a future career?

Heather: So you collect unemployment and mooch off the government? That's disgusting. (audience reacts)
Greg: Now, now, Heather. Let's not make this political. I'm sure Lester Holt already has. (audience chuckles) The CashCard is up to $15,000 tonight. Maybe if you win it, you'll be able to cover an Associates' Degree at a community college. There is nothing wrong with a community college. (community college supporters in the audience cheer) Thank you very much. Good luck to you, David.
Next, we have Anthony. Now, it says here you're a student. What are you studying, and where are you in your education?

Well, there's no reason why you can't get into a community college. They'll take anyone. Now, this special school. Is this like Devry or ECPI? One of those colleges you hear about in commercial breaks?

[INSTANT BARGAIN]That sound means it's time for an Instant Bargain. Player in the lead can buy bargain merchandise. Frank, that's you with a $15 lead. Let's see what Heather can tempt you with.... (Mitch and Shannon, in swimwear, toss a beach ball around outside their rented beach house)Heather: Frank, the West Coast offers so much, and you can soak up the sun on this 3-night weekend in a luxury rental.
This villa has been featured numerous times as a must-see luxury vacation home on shows like Mansions and Millionaires and Extra. Its ultra private surroundings and open architectural style make it a top California rental home. A maximum of six guests can comfortably spend the night in this villa’s three bedrooms. The master suite overlooks the pool and features a large en-suite with a walk-in shower, separate tub, terrazzo noche countertops and a king-sized bed. But tonight on $ale of the Century, it's yours for only....(cheers and applause, as I join the two) Greg: We couldn't put in a swimming pool, it'd look ridiculous on TV. Now, Frank, you are from the East Coast, so I'm sure you'd appreciate a weekend out here in California. As Jim Morrison of The Doors says, "The West is the best". Don't you agree?
