Okay, time to search for a new challenger as we start a new match -- really -- on OAR.
Based on how previous games have played out, we can easily sneak in three or four more rounds of dice rolls -- and thus another full game -- in this episode.
Should the time's up horn sound (which sounds like someone scoring more than $1.00 on the SCSD), the game will be canceled, Lenny's challenger will play the audience game intended for this episode -- and both Lenny and the challenger start anew in a new match on the next show.
On the other hand, if the puzzle's solved before the time's up horn sounds, we'll credit that player with a win and let him/her play Big 6 and Lucky 7. Then, both Lenny and the challenger resolve the match on the next show.
The intended audience game may have to be moved to the next episode as a result of all of this.
For now, let's see how this all turns out as we ask -- who wants to challenge Lenny?

Even though I'm playing the After Dark version right now, can I challenge Lenny here too?

Welcome back to On A Roll. Nathalie Kelley from "Dynasty" is back at the board. Elizabeth Gillies is back with us at the dice table. Also with us at the dice table -- Joseph Emerson. (audience cheers) Joseph, please tell us something about yourself and then I'll tell everyone how this game will work.

Well, Doug, my name is Joseph Kristoff. I live in Maryland, but I work as a courier in D.C. and I can't wait to win big bucks like Lenny.

We'll the champ's knocking on the door of $400,000 -- but if he can do it, so can you. Players, we should be able to get in roughly three rounds of dice rolls -- possibly four. It is vital to note, however, should we hear this sound... (overbid horn) ...then we'll have to cancel the game, let Joseph play what was to be the audience game for this episode -- and then we'll just restart the match with both of you on the next show. On the other hand, should someone successfully solve this next puzzle before time runs out, then the game *will* count in the standings -- and the victor *will* play Big 6 and Lucky 7 -- much to the chagrin of the accountants. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Joseph, Lenny, just know you'll both be back on the next show no matter how this game turns out -- which starts with this name game. (FF reveal sfx)Seven-letter answer to this question. Who helped the United States of America get on a roll -- when he made a big name for himself? (ding)
(Lenny and Joseph, please PM me your answer as well as a buzz code from 1-100.)

(dings; audience applause) There ya go, Lenny. The right happy clue gives you a chance to solve the puzzle and have the win count in the standings. Wrong answer or pass means you're still on a roll.

(scattered groans) For the game -- is it -- the '70s? (TPiR Pathfinder wrong move sfx) No -- but you may still roll the bones again. (Lenny rolls)And it's another 5 and 6 or yo-leven. Fives are gone and blocked already. You may take the 6 or 11 upstairs.

(dings; audience cheers) That's it. Now -- Lenny -- we're still out of rolls. But now you may take a guess at the overall solution. The right answer here means the win counts in the standings. A pass or a wrong answer means we should be able to play one or two more rounds of dice rolls.

I'm going to solve the puzzle:
Fonzie

|
|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on Apr 23, 2018 19:51:13 GMT -5
(audience cheers) For the game, is it Fonzie? (dings; SCSD win theme plays; audience cheers) Judge accepts your guess for "The Fonz". You win Game 1. Yes, he was nicknamed "The Fonz" and "Fonzie" interchangeably. The character's "given" first and last name, by the way, was Arthur Fonzarelli -- and we'd also have to accept that as a correct solution. Speaking of "character", that happened to be the last clue on the board. Joseph, the bad news is, officially, you are down one game in this match. We'll continue the match on the next show. The good news is I'm reasonably certain we'll have time to play my version of TPiR's Dice Game worth more than $20,000 in prizes. We'll let you play that after Big 6 and Lucky 7. So, please stay with us and let's all get on Lenny's side in Big 6. Lenny, money roll time for you. This is for $5000 a point. (scattered cheers) (Lenny rolls)(cha-ching) (scattered groans) If you listen *really* carefully, you can hear the sighs of relief from the bean counters. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Double are allowed on the money roll. So, you're playing for $10,000 in Big 6. Wally, may we have the numbers and a hint, please? (FF reveal sfx) Name Game. This means your Big 6 word is a proper noun -- and it's the last name of a famous person. That's all the help we can offer for now since you solved the Fonzie puzzle with two clues. But you've played well throughout the show. Let's see if you can win ten grand here. First of four rolls coming up. (Lenny rolls)And the ol' Lawrence Welk roll starts us out. Lenny, want a 1 or a 2?

First letter, please, Wally. (ding) It's an R. Well -- there are lots of last names starting with an R. Think of as many as you can, narrow it down to one and give it a good guess.
