First off, the longest running game show in television history? That's pretty rich, Tony. (I chuckle) Well, I host $ale on NBC, Card Sharks in syndication, something you should be familiar with, Tony, and on the weekends, I also host my own Hot AC radio countdown for Westwood One. It's called Top 30 Countdown. Check t30c.com [not a real website] for more details. Yeah, I know, we all have to compete with Ryan Seacrest somehow. On top of that, $ale of the Century is coming to IMAX. Our Tournament of Champions will be 100% filmed using IMAX 2D digital cameras. (audience cheers)
The charity I'm playing for is the Occoneechee Council of the Boy Scouts of America, located in my hometown of Durham, North Carolina. The Boy Scouts are now more important than ever. I'm an Eagle Scout, and you should be, too.

(burps) 'Scuse me. (scattered laughter) I just had a cocktail before we went on the air. Advantage: Palmer.
(more scattered laughter)
I have a weekend radio show of my own. It's a classic rock-by-request show going strong into its 21st year. Find out all about it at DougMorris.net (all 100% real).
When I'm not hosting that, I'm hosting Daytime On A Roll -- and a few other projects (hiccups) -- (scattered laughter) -- on a few other networks.
In all seriousness, I'm playing for the Children's Miracle Network. Does a lot of great work for children sidelined by illness.

Good luck to you, Doug... and I'm sure that The Children's Miracle Network and The Boy Scouts of America are both rooting for both players. Let's play the game. The object of the game is to get closer to 21 without going over. Each correct answer is worth $100 and whoever comes closer to 21 (or have your opponent busted) earns an additional $500. And whoever wins the best 3 out of 5 rounds will be playing Beat The Dealer. Let's take a look at the big money board.
[DING]The player who has a combination of at least three cards and it adds 21, wins the Any 21 Jackpot of $5,000. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]But... if you get an Ace and either a 10 or face card, you will win the Blackjack Bonus of $25,000! [LOUDER CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]And before the start of the show, the lab rats at RANDOM.ORG have given Jennifer a deck of 54 super sized playing cards that were shuffled, cut, and sealed. Jenn will now break the seal as we begin round 1 with the first card up for grabs. Jenny...? Jennifer: Our first card in round 1 is a 3. Tony: Each correct answer is worth $100... and the player closer to 21 while have your opponent busted or beaten his hand earns an additional $500. Here comes the first question of the night. "This is life on the streets", "This is your brain on drugs", or "This is your reputation"-- What analogy was made in a 1990s public service announcement that showed an egg frying in a pan?*You have 24 hours to PM your buzz-code between 1 and 100.

Buzz-code answer: 81 1st: DOUG (43) 2nd: GREG (21) [BUZZ-IN]Doug...? Doug: This is your brain on drugs. Tony: Any questions...? [AUDIENCE LAUGHS] Anyhow... you're right. [APPLAUSE, DING]Your first hundred bucks in the game, Doug. Do you want to keep the 3 or pass it to Greg?

And Doug passes his 3 to Greg. At this moment, Doug is going for $25,000 while Greg will be going for $5,000. Jennifer will not reveal the next card unless one of you answers this next question correctly. Here it comes... Alps, Himalayas, or Dolomites-- Which mountain range contains the highest mountains in the world?
|
|
|
Post by tmann3x on Aug 13, 2017 12:37:43 GMT -5
Buzz-code answer: 35 1st: GREG (42) 2nd: DOUG (75) [BUZZ-IN]Greg...? Greg: Alps. Tony: The correct answer is the Himalayas. Another hundred goes to Doug. [DING]Doug... since you've won the question by default, do you want to keep the card or pass it to Greg? Doug: I'll keep the card. Tony: OK then. Jennifer, please reveal Doug's first card. Jennifer: Doug's first card is a King! [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: Doug needs an Ace for the $25,000 Blackjack Bonus and the first game of the match. Next question... Florida, Nebraska, or Washington State-- What was the alma mater of quarterback and Heisman candidate Ryan Leaf?

Buzz-code answer: 16 We have a tie between Doug & Greg at 25. In order to break that tie, let's see who is the fastest to respond. [BUZZ-IN]Greg...? Greg: Geez, you caught me in one of my weaknesses... sports. Nebraska. Tony: It was Washington State. Another hundred goes to Doug. [DING]You now have $300 and a decision. Do you want to keep the card or pass it to Greg? Doug: Come onnnnnn, Ace. I'll take it. Tony: OK then. Let's all hope for an Ace. If your next card is an Ace, you'll win the $25,000 Blackjack Bonus for The Children's Miracle Network. Jennifer, please reveal Doug's next card. Jennifer: Good luck to you, Doug. Your next card is-- *slowly reveals card* --a 4. Sorry... [AUDIENCE GROANS]Tony: The bad news is that the Blackjack Bonus is now out of play for both hosts... but the good news is the Blackjack Bonus will return in the second round. Doug, you now have a total of 14. Before I read the next question, you have a decision. Do you want to continue playing round 1 or freeze?

Can I call David Copperfield and have him change my 4 into an Ace?
(scattered laughter from the crowd)
No?
Smart money says play on. So I'll play.

[APPLAUSE]OK, then... let's go to the next question. The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, or Petticoat Junction-- And if the song tells you 'Farm Living is the life for me. Land spreading out so far and wide, keep Manhattan just give me that countryside,' what TV show are you fixin' to watch?

Buzz-code answer: 96 1st: DOUG (53) 2nd: GREG (25) [BUZZ-IN]Doug...? Doug: I'm fixin' to watch "Green Acres", there, Tony. Tony: I beckon you'd be right, Dougie. [APPLAUSE, DING]You now have 400 and a decision. Do you want to keep the card or pass it to Greg? Doug: I'll pass the next card. Tony: Greg, that next card is coming up for ya. Jennifer, please reveal Greg's next card. Jennifer: Greg's next card is a Jack. Tony: Greg now has a total of 13. He cannot freeze on his 13... therefore, he must answer the next question correctly to achieve that option. Next question should read as follows... Dress, Fleece, or Shoes-- In the nursery rhyme "Mary's Lamb" what was as "white as snow"?

|
|
Post by tmann3x on Aug 17, 2017 14:38:28 GMT -5
Buzz-code answer: 47 1st: GREG (36) 2nd: DOUG (32) [BUZZ-IN]Greg...? Greg: Its fleece was white as snow (after answer) If he hollers, let him go, eenie meanie miney moe. [AUDIENCE LAUGHING]Tony: Alright, Spanky. We'll take your answer-- fleece... and you're right. [APPLAUSE, DING]You now have $100. With your 13, you have the option to freeze on your lucky number. Do you want to freeze, keep the card, or pass the card to Doug?
