I'd love to do this, trouble is I'm going away on vacation from July 12th and returning July 20th. I might have access to the boards, depending on if my family takes their laptops and if the internet works there okay...

[NOTE FROM DOUG: Sam and Bill, we'll work around any hurdles due to the challenger's vacay plans. Meantime, please PM dougmorrisontheair 20 buzzcodes, each from 1-100, ASAP. Thanks. Meantime, let's get the party started.]
WXYZ DETROIT Staff announcer: The summer of fun and games continues Thursday night on 7ABC. (opening theme plays)Bill Kennedy: It's time to play -- Lucky Numbers. Ladies and gentlemen -- Doug Morris. (audience cheers) Thank you, Bill Kennedy. Hellooooo, everybody -- and welcome to Lucky Numbers. It's great to be with all of you on ABC -- and in familiar and yet unpredictable surroundings. Throughout this next half hour, you'll be hearing some screams of joy -- and probably some moans and groans as well. Right now -- time to cheer for our players -- Sam Ryan and Bill McDee. (audience cheers)Sam is our current champion with two match wins. He virtually doubled up his prize and cash total on the last show -- winning *another* car along the way. So far, a big total of $161,854. (audience cheers)Sam, not to put the cart before the horse -- but if you win this match and then the next two, you'll play an all-cash main event which could pay off more than $1,000,000. (more cheers) If you win the million before the week's out, what would you do with that kind of money?

Cruising. Bill, as we welcome you, same question. Obviously, you'll have a little further to go to reach the million. But if you win the million bucks, what would you do with that kind of money?

Well a good portion would go toward my son's education, some I'd put away for retirement, some to pay off other debts, some for a new car for me, and the rest I'd put on a Gucci gift certificate

But we have this lovely ceramic Dalmatian for sale. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Player's, it's time to start the match and to see who'll move closer to that million dollar main event. Take a look at the game board, please, Sam and Bill. Those are the lucky numbers in play for every game in our match -- 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Attached to five of those numbers are cash awards. Anytime your dice roll totals one of those lucky numbers, you seize control of that cash award. However, the remaining number is the luckiest of them all. It's our winning point. And the winning point in the first game we're about to play is... (drum beats; cha-ching)...the number 10. Roll a 10 in any combination and you'll win the cash you've seized *plus* the money in the pot. At the start of every game, we seed the pot with $1500 -- just as we have right now -- and it could go up by as much as $500 on a particular roll. More on that later. But in every game of Lucky Numbers, rolling a 7 is *not* lucky. Anytime you roll a 7, this happens. (danger zone cue; lights briefly flicker in certain parts of studio)The game then goes into the danger zone. The complexion of the game will change from there. More about *that* later. Now -- to get control of the dice, you must correctly answer a toss-up question. If you anticipate and you're wrong, the roll automatically goes to your opponent. So -- Sam, Bill, hands on the buzzers, please -- because here comes your first question. ESPN or The Weather Channel. Which network would you more likely hear the term "pogonip"? 34 slrcatchphrase 06 billmcdee 51 random.org (Sam buzzes in) Sam?

Pogonip is the Native American term for -- frozen fog. So you'd likely hear about it on The Weather Channel. (audience applause) Sam, your first roll in this opening game of the match is yours. With a winning roll of 10, it will be the last. Let's see what happens. (Sam rolls) (chimes; audience cheers) It's a 3. We don't have a 3 on the board -- but there is good news. The 3 is one of our wild rolls; the others are 2, 11 and 12. For every wild roll that happens in the match... (drum beats; cha-ching) ...we put an extra $500 in the pot. Already the game's worth at least $2000 to the victor. Each wild roll also allows an extra roll of the dice. So, Sam, if you will, give 'em another roll. (Sam rolls)And the roll's a 4 this time. You have control of the cash award attached to that 4. (ding) And it's $500. Anytime the champion seizes control of a lucky number, it illuminates red. For Bill, the challenger, his numbers will light blue. Winner of the game banks the money in the pot *and* any cash awards he has control of. On to our next question. In 2017, Rosalind Ross gave birth to a baby boy named Lars. Who is the famous father; Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson or Arnold Schwarzenegger? 82 slrcatchphrase 27 billmcdee 80 random.org (Sam buzzes in) Sam again.

Mel Gibson is right. (audience applause) Okie doke, Sam. Double fives or a 6 and 4 make you $2500 richer. (Sam rolls)(scattered cheers and groans) Close to the winning point of 9. You do get control of... (ding) ...$375. No sevens as yet. Let's keep avoiding them -- as we move on this next query. Doug Llewelyn, Doug Savant or Doug Morris.

Doug Llewelyn is right. (audience applause) Interesting factoid -- there's another Doug on the show. Douglas McIntosh is the bailiff. Bill, first roll of the dice in this game. Show me 10 pips and I'll show you two grand. (Bill rolls) (chimes; audience applause) Boxcars! That's another wild roll. (drum beats; cha-ching) Pot's now up to $2500. With the wild roll, Bill, you may roll again. (Bill rolls) (danger zone cue; lights flicker in studio)Uh oh, Spaghetti-Os. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Players, that roll of 7 puts the rest of this game in the danger zone. The next roll of 7 will mean an automatic game win for your opponent. So, if you win this next question, you may roll the dice -- or pass them if you feel another 7 is coming on. So -- play carefully as we play the next question. The classic TV series "Bonanza" was set in Virginia City. Was it set in the state of Virginia; yes or no? 84 slrcatchphrase 44 billmcdee 47 random.org (Bill buzzes in) Bill again.

Bill: No, I believe it was set in Nevada as a matter of fact. Doug: Right and all over it. (audience applause) Doug: Now, Bill, we're in the danger zone. If you roll the dice and the roll totals 10, you still win the game -- but if it's a 7, Sam automatically wins. Same will be said vice versa if you pass the dice to Sam. How do you play it? Bill: I will pass the dice. Doug: Sam, he's daring you to roll the bones. Avoid the 7 and you stay in business (Sam rolls) (chimes; audience applause) Boxcars again. That's a wild roll. (drum beats; cha-ching) Already $3000 in the pot waiting to be won. Sam, please roll again. (Sam rolls) (chimes; audience applause) Another wild roll -- the yo-leven this time. (drum beats; cha-ching) Could someone call David Muir? "World News" may start late if this keeps up. (scattered laughter from the crowd). $3500 in the pot, Sam. Please roll 'em again. (Sam rolls)(scattered woahs) Yeah, almost flirted with disaster. But they end up 6 and 2 for an 8 and.... (ding) ...that gives you control of $300. Lot at stake in this opening game of the match. Next question's crucial. Is the chemical symbol for silver Ag or Au? 36 slrcatchphrase 52 billmcdee 42 random.org (Sam buzzes in) Sam?

You learnt it well. Ag is correct. (audience applause) Now, Sam, we're still in the danger zone -- even though the lights, somehow, are turned off. Oh, good, they're back on. (scattered laughter) With that clarified, Sam, you could win a lot of money if you roll a 10. But any roll of 7 makes Bill a winner of this first game. Want to roll the dice or pass them? (audience shouts suggestions)

Okay, Bill. Avoid the 7 and the game continues. You'd really like that Bo Derek combination of 10. (Bill rolls)But it's an 8 instead. Sam *had* control of that $300 cash prize but now... (ding)...it's yours, Bill. But it's yours to keep if you win the game. Let's take a break and we'll resume this opening game of Lucky Numbers -- after this. (commercial cue plays; audience applause)

(HR87 theme plays) A source for many of the questions we use on Lucky Numbers is the 22-volume World Book Encyclopedia -- including the research guide and index volume. Today's players are receiving some fine gifts. Bill Kennedy has the deets on one of them. Bill: A weekend stay for two at the fabulous Pechanga Resort and Casino. Play your lucky numbers in America's number one casino. This package also includes $300 in meal credits -- and admission to a spectacular show Bill: We'll be back with more of Lucky Numbers -- after this message.

(ASB win cue plays; audience applause)Welcome back to Lucky Numbers. We're still in the first game of our match. So, there's no score as yet. But this first game has a lot of money at stake. Both of our players, Sam Ryan and Bill McDee, have come up with a lot of wild rolls. So that's why the pot's currently at $3500. Sam, our current champion playing red, has control of two lucky numbers. Bill, our challenger playing blue, just snatched control of the 8 before we went to break. Luckiest number of all remains the 10. And we're still in the danger zone. So any roll of 7 means victory for the opposition. Let's see if we get a winner right after this question. Let's say you end this match with exactly a myriad of dollars. By definition, is your score more or less than $5000? 27 slrcatchphrase 56 billmcdee 09 random.org (Sam buzzes in) Sam?

A myriad of dollars would equal -- 10,000. It's more. (audience applause) We're still in the danger zone, Sam. Ten's the winning roll for someone; seven's the losing roll. Who's rollin'?

Bill, champ's daring you again. Any 10 makes you a winner; any 7 gives Sam a lot of money. (Bill rolls)And the roll is another 8. Bill, you have control of the 8. You maintain control of the 8. (drum beats; cha-ching)Since the 8 will be worth $300 to someone eventually, we add $300 to the pot. And we continue with another question.
