Some announcements before we start The $40,000 Chain Reaction.
Jon Darrall won the last game and racked up $7000. In case you haven't seen, he's taking time off to concentrate on a wedding and other real world matters. We hope to have him back playing Chain Reaction, likely as a challenger, as soon as possible. Meantime, please join me in wishing him decades of wedded bliss and brighter days.
With that, we seek two new players. Anyone who hasn't played The $40,000 Chain Reaction in the last four episodes is welcome to give this a try.
Once we find two, we'll go to random.org to see who's the designated challenger and champion.

Thanks, Kevin and Frank. I entered your names, in that order, into random.org's list randomizer. The player whose name popped up first will be the designated challenger. Kevin, you'll be said challenger. Frank, you're the designated champion. And awaaaaayyyy we go...
(theme plays; audience applause)The game is -- The $40,000 Chain Reaction -- where one word leads to another -- and the right word could lead to a big payoff.(more applause) Helloooooo, everybody. I'm Doug Morris. Happy Fri-yay and welcome to The $40,000 Chain Reaction. On our last show, Jon Darrall defeated our four-time champion, Bill McDee. Jon pocketed $7000 for his efforts. You'll recall on the last show, Jon noted he had plans to get married. Since we signed off yesterday, he had to leave us to prepare for the wedding and take care of other matters. So -- we hope to have him back on a future show. Meantime, we welcome two new contestants -- Kevin Kolsen and Frank Sartori. (audience cheers) Before the show, we had a random draw to determine who would be the designated challenger and designated champion. Kevin, you'll be the challenger and go first when we play Round 1. Before we start, please tell us something about yourself.

Nice to be here Doug. I am 22 years old from the lovely state of Massachusetts. I am a full-time college student studying early childhood education. In my spare time, you can find me shopping for retro video games, hanging out with friends, and hosting net games.

Well thanks for hanging out with us today. (board opens as part of the theme plays) Again, players, I wish you both good luck. Both of you could win thousands. But only one of you will play for up to $40,000. To get to that final chain, you must win this race to $5000 -- which we are starting with this chain. And it starts with... (ding)... ADORE FIDO? -- notice the question mark -- and the chain ends with B. I should clarify that is a completed link at the bottom of the chain -- just the letter B. Each link in this opening chain is worth $250. The player who completes this chain scores an additional $250. And when we start a new round, we up the ante. More on that later. Right now, Kevin, again, due to the luck of the draw, you'll start us off by giving a letter to Frank or taking for yourself. Also, tell us whether your giving or taking that letter below ADORE FIDO? or above B.

Another good guess -- but not PURINA.
Kevin, you're three-for-three on the gives. Are you going to give a letter somewhere -- or take?
