For $150 and control of the Money Dice, is it "GOPHER"? For those of you not old enough or who never saw a celebrated show called "The Love Boat", actor Fred Grandy portrayed a character named "GOPHER"!!! $150 to you Matt and control of those unpredictable Money Dice. You saw what happened to Cle'ment last time. He got money and an extra roll, then that nasty Bandit turned up and took all his money away. Do you want to safeguard that $150 and pass to Cle'ment, knowing he could get on a winning streak, or keep the dice and roll them yourself? What do you say Matt?

We're going to place a bookmark here until Cle'ment is able to return to us. Once he checks back in, we'll continue. Cle'ment we realize it may take a short while, you take care and we'll keep your place for you when you are able to return

Great to see you're back already Cle'ment! Matt now is rolling the money dice to try to add to his $150 score...and he gets... A ROLL AGAIN plus DOUBLE $50 or $100, brings you up to $250 Matt, and you get to take another roll... Oh a big one, $225! (applause) Score is now Matt $475, and Cle'ment $0, but a lot can change in a hurry, as no lead is perfectly safe nor guaranteed here on our show... We head into word #3. We play 4 words per round remember. And the Third word is worth $200. Cle'ment, as you are behind, you have first option. You can roll first or second. Last time you elected to roll second and lost the word, but each time something different of course can happen. What's your pleasure?

Time to use some statistics here. Since I cannot find a word with two letters shown, I should go second. The probability of a bad roll is 2/36, and the probability of getting only one additional letter is 10/36. So I end up with 4 letters 2/3 of the time.
Matt will roll first.

And Matt's roll is... Doubles! (applause) Whenever a double is rolled, the number rolled will be exposed, which in this case is position #3. But when you roll a double, you get to select any other letter to be revealed free of charge. Matt, the strategy here I suppose is do you uncover a letter than you think will help you, or one that will make it difficult for your challenger. That being said, which position do you want uncovered, 1, 2, 4, 5 or 6?

An "I" and a "C". Do you have a guess or do you wish to pass to Cle'ment, Matt?

Quiche

Well you know that would fit too... Is it, for $200 more, QUICHE? (buzzer) (audience moans) No I'm sorry Matt, but that was a dandy guess! Control goes over to Cle'ment, and Cle'ment, before you elect to roll, you earned 1 bonus letter due to Matt's incorrect solve... Where do you want your bonus letter Cle'ment, 1, 2, 5 or 6?

First letter.

There's a T for you Cle'ment. You can try to solve, or roll the dice to try to uncover 1 or even 2 more letters perhaps. The only bad rolls right now are 1-3, 1-4, 3-1, 3-4, 4-1 and 4-3, so 30 combinations are good, only 6 are bad. What's your pleasure?

I should roll at that point.

Okay, but the question is are you going to roll , or do you want to try to solve the word? I'm assuming you want to roll, but I remember my elementary school teachers telling me to never assume as it can make an (hum) out of u and me

Oh my! (applause) You'll get TWO more letters exposed, which is rare when only 3 remain....let's see them.. Cle'ment you will get 1 guess. If you're right $200 and the Money Dice are yours. If you're wrong, Matt will get 1 free guess, since we cannot reveal the last remaining concealed letter. If both you and Matt miss it, I will ask a toss-up question. A correct answer will win the word and the Money Dice. An incorrect answer will mean your opponent will win the word and the Money Dice. So for $200 and control of the Money Dice Cle'ment, what is this word?

This shouldn't be TRICKY.

(audience laughter)
Well...no I best not say anything yet...
For $200 and control of the Money Dice, is it TRICKY?
T R I C K Y
Yes!
(applause)
I was going to say it can only be one of 2 words, the other having been TRICKS...
So $200 to you Cle'ment and here are the Money Dice, which you may roll or pass if you prefer. What's your pleasure?

Watch out for that Bandit again Cle'ment... Another $150 plus the $200 for the word, brings you up to $350 and Matt in the lead with $475... Time for the last word here in Round #1. It is worth $300 and whoever solves it will be in the lead, the question is, will they hang onto that lead??? The dice determine the fates of our players at every turn! And since you are currently behind in this game Cle'ment, the first option is yours, do you want to roll to reveal 2 letters or pass and have Matt do so first? One time it didn't work for you when you passed, one time it did...

I'll try it. DAMSEL?
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Oct 11, 2014 3:52:13 GMT -5
For $300 and the lead, is it DAMSEL? It IS!!! (applause) Reminds me of a story of a young lady who wore a lovely evening gown. Later on she disappeared. Fortunately her date had a picture of her wearing it, and he kept going around asking "Have you seen this girl? She's the damsel in 'dis dress." (audience moans) Cle'ment you scored another $300 for that word and now lead $650 to $475. Just a $175 lead. If you pass the money dice to Matt, he may tie you or beat you, or he may get a Roll Again. On the other hand he may get the Bandit. If you keep the money dice you could score more, or end up with $0 too. Do you want to roll or pass? Remember one die has 2 sides where another roll must be taken. On the other die, 1 side has the Bandit.

Time to use once again some percentages.
Regular roll with no bandit and no +1: 20/36 Bandit: 6/36 (even if I roll again, it's likely a loss) +1 with no bandit: 10/36
My overall odds of not getting a bandit is 20/26, a little less than 80%. If I pass the dice, I'd still be ahead 60-65% of the time. I'll roll.

Are you available to do my taxes? Very well he is rolling... For the win... Well just $125 but that's enough to win the Round!!! (win cue) Cle'ment you have taken Round 1, but it takes 2 rounds to win a game. We'll take a quick time out and have 4 more words for our players to solve. You try to solve them too there at home! Back in a flash!!!

(Cheering and applauding) Time for Round #2 of Dice Words. Cle'ment our challenger won Round 1 and has banked $775. That is yours to keep no matter what. Matt if you win this round, we will play a 1 word sudden death tie-breaking word for another $500. Matt, the possession arrow is pointing to you, so you have the option to roll the dice first to uncover 2 letters, or you may have Cle'ment roll first. What's your pleasure Matt?
