I was thinking either weather, or misplaced car keys, or encountered an accident on the way to work, or had an accident while driving to work, or being pulled over by a policeman en route to work, or perhaps running late due to illness

Accident it is, and if it's up there, you get the $83; if not, we'll give it to Matt. Accident? (strike buzzer) (bells jangling) Now let's see the rest of the answers. Number 4? clang!AUDIENCE: Doctor's appointment!Number 5? clang!AUDIENCE: Missed bus/train!And Number 6? clang!AUDIENCE: Bad weather!I think I heard that answer. Well after two rounds, the Ringgenbergs lead the Sartoris, 83 to 64. But we have more Family Feud to come after this. (1976 FF Commercial Cue, fiddle variant)

Ringgenbergs at $83, Sartoris at $64. James and David, let's go! (1976 FF Face-Off Cue, guitar variant) Remember, the first family to $300 wins the game and gets a chance to play Fast Money for $10,000. The dollar values are doubled, and the top six answers are on the board. This is the question: Name a musical instrument that has strings.

And the Ringgenbergs will play this one, which brings us to Matt. Can you think of another musical instrument that has strings?

Such an exotic instrument that makes beautiful music; let's see if it's up there. Anyone in the survey say zither? (strike buzzer) What??? I thought for sure it would be there. Kevin?

A double bass!

Post by Bill Skinner on Feb 12, 2017 14:17:26 GMT -5
I like that answer; it's sort of like a cello, but one that you pluck instead of run a bow over. Let's see if it's there. Double bass? (strike buzzer) Second strike! Now James, it's up to you to keep it going for your team; otherwise, the Sartoris will get a chance to steal. So what are you going with?

Bass!

Judges, is that the same as a double bass?
JUDGE: (off-camera) Yes, bass and double bass are the same thing.
We already tried that and it didn't show up, so please feel free to think of another answer.

I think that's the same as a violin, isn't it?
(judges nod)
They said yes, but you still have another shot at it.

Harp!

Post by Bill Skinner on Feb 12, 2017 16:30:44 GMT -5
That's a great answer; if harp is there, you're fine, and if it's not, third strike. Harp! clang! It's up there, and now I turn to Matt for the final answer.

This is it; if piano is there, you get all the cash, and if not, they'll try to steal. Piano? clang!(bells jangling) $281 to $64. Matt and Frank, let's go. (1976 FF Face-Off Cue, fiddle variant) Once again, the dollar values are doubled, and the top five answers are on the board. This is the question: Name a place where you are told to be quiet.

Library? clang!(bells jangling) So if you win this, you will play Fast Money. And the Sartoris need it to keep playing.
