picosong.com/wicm/FRANK CALIENDO - (As Kenny Williams) You have the knowledge, you know the odds. All the rest is in the cards... A game of skill, fate and fortune... GAMBIT P.M. And now from Television City in Hollywood, your host this evening on Gambit PM, Bill McDee! That's me! Thank you Frank, thank you studio audience and friends at home. A very pleasant good evening to you all. I hope you all had a very fun and enjoyable summer and Labor Day weekend. I know I sure did, and I hope that this experience of Gambit in the evening hours will prove every bit as fun and enjoyable too. Gambit wouldn't be Gambit without a lovely dealer. It just so happens we have one here with us, Miss Lynn Jennings! (applause) Hello Lynn, how do you like working the evening shift? Lynn - I am looking forward to it, and I hope the cards prove good for our first two contestants. picosong.com/q789/All the way from New Jersey, say hello to Michael Clifford! (applause) And a courtesy clerk all the way from Iowa, Matt Ringgenberg! Welcome, and good luck tonight on Gambit contestants! Thank you Lynn, and I too echo those sentiments. The very best of good luck to you both here on Gambit. Michael, I was born and raised in New Jersey too, the Garden State. What do you enjoy doing?

Well Bill, I like watching TV (especially game shows), following my Philly sports teams, hanging out with my family & friends, going on the Internet, & listening to classic Casey Kasem American Top 40 shows.

I remember when America's Top 40 was a current show, growing up as a teenager in the early to mid 1980s. Casey was a very big part of my childhood, not only for that, but his various cartoon voices including Shaggy on Scooby-Doo.
So a Philadelphia sports team fan. Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, Phillies. Any sport or any of those specific teams that you are the most passionate about?

By far, it's the Eagles. They're going to have a great season again this year. Of course, I like it when all the Philly teams win. I recently saw the Phils' combined no-hitter. That was the highlight of their season, unless of course they fire GM Ruben Amaro. Then that would be the highlight of their season. (audience laughter)

So true about Mr. Amaro and it would seem the Eagles right now have the inside track on winning another division crown. Good luck to you today as you try to win the Gambit crown.
Here to also try to win that is a courtesy clerk from Iowa, Matt Ringgenberg!
(applause)
Welcome to Gambit Matt. I also know you participate in Special Olympics in cheerleading. What other events take place? And are there both Summer and Winter games just like with the global Olympic games?

That would stand to reason as the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Matt, here's hoping the cards will be hot and not cold for you, and for your opponent too. Speaking of which, we play Gambit with a standard regulation 52 card deck. This deck has been thoroughly shuffled under the watchful eyes of CBS Standards and Practices. Lynn at this time please break the seal on this new deck. Ordinarily the challenger would cut the cards, however with this being our first episode, we'll have Michael do the honors since he signed up first. Michael, please select a number higher than 0 and lower than 52. This will represent how deep into the deck you are cutting the cards. And while he's doing that, I will remind our players and our viewing and studio audience that the winner of each game will be paid $50 times their score, with a house minimum of $500 for a win. We have an Any 21 Jackpot as well. It starts at... (CLANG) $1,000. So any 21 will win $1,050 plus the Any 21 Jackpot. Now, if you make it to 21 with just 2 cards, that's the Blackjack Bonus, and that always pays (CLANG) Double the Any 21 Jackpot here on Gambit P.M.

(to Lynn) Hi there. I'm single. I like pina coladas & getting caught in the rain.
(audience laughter & I notice it)
Oh yeah. Cut the cards.

(whispers to Lynn) I'll talk to you later.

The cards are now cut, and we always show you the first card at the start of each game, and only the first card. Lynn, deal it up please. For a 6 of Hearts. Which number is higher, one gross or the number of months in one decade? Matt rang in first. A correct answer will score for you $100, yours to keep regardless of the outcome of the game, and give you control over that 6 of Hearts, which you can either keep or pass to your opponent. An incorrect answer, or missing a 48 hour deadline will automatically score $100 for your opponent and give him control over the 6 instead. Finally, players, when you answer, indicate whether you wish to keep or pass the card. This will prove to be a time-saving measure. If you happen to get the question wrong, or should time expire, then I will pose the keep or pass question to your opponent. Matt, your answer please, and indicate too if you wish to keep or pass the 6 to Michael.

One Gross
I will keep the six.

120 months in one decade, 144 in one gross, well done! (applause) $100 in cash and the 6 now belongs to you Matt. For $100 and control of the next card in the deck, which famous doll had a boyfriend named Ken? And it's Matt who is first again to ring in.

Barbie.
I will keep that card.

Barbie is correct! (applause) Another $100 for that correct answer, and he wishes to keep the next card. Lynn? Please... (gasping) I'd say that was a very good keep, otherwise your opponent would have had 11. Matt, the Ace of course can count as 1 or 11, so you now have a 7 or 17. Do you wish to call that 17 and freeze, or do you wish to continue playing? If you continue, you won't be allowed to freeze until you receive another card.

I'm going to freeze on 17.

Post by billmcdee on Sept 6, 2014 6:04:14 GMT -5
Very well, going to call that 17 and freeze. If that 17 holds up, Matt will win game #1 and $850, as we pay $50 per point, with a house minimum of $500. Michael, you will need 18 or more to win game 1, but not go over 21. You'll have to answer every question I ask you correctly to keep earning cards. One wrong answer, or one missed deadline (48 hours) will result in a win for Matt. Also, the winner of game 1 will play a mini bonus game. Michael, here's your question... Is it Hydrogen or Helium that is represented on the periodic table of elements with just a single letter?

Hydrogen is "H", Helium "He", well done! (applause) $100 for you... Lynn, what is Michael's first card? Next question Michael... You are gazing out over the River Thames. Are you in Italy, France or England?

That too is correct! (applause) Another $100 for you Michael, and another card... A 5, so if you win the next card and it's an Ace, you'll win game #1. According to the old adage, a dog is a man's best friend. But according to the old adage, what is a girl's best friend?

That they are indeed! (applause) So another hundred dollars into your coffers Michael, and the next card. An Ace will win you game #1. Lynn, show us the next card please. (the audience oohs and ahhs) Michael, this sets you up quite nicely for the possibility of a 21. Sixteen cards in the deck are worth 10 of course, and we haven't seen one as of yet. Very important question for control of that next card. Here it is Michael... A song written by Leon René and first recorded by The Ink Spots featuring Bill Kenny in May 1940 states that a certain type of bird come back to Capistrano. For another $100 and the next card, name the bird.

Is correct for another $100 in cash. (applause) No fear of going over on this next card Michael. A 6 will do you no good as there are no ties in Gambit, a 7, 8 or 9 wins you Game #1 of this best two out of three match. A 10, Jack, Queen or King wins you the game, $1,050 plus the Any 21 Jackpot of $1,000. Lynn, for the win, show us! TWENTY-ONE!!! www.fileswap.com/dl/7IcdqlFbv3/GambitBlackjackCheerApplause.mp3.htmlA very good first game by both contestants. Michael, $1,050 for the 21, as winners receive $50 times their winning score plus that Any 21 Jackpot worth $1,000. A very nice way for us to start off our very first game of our very first match here on Gambit PM. Matt with 17, and one rule we neglected to include, losing players earn $25 per point as long as they do not go over 21, so for you Matt, another $425, and we will amend your total after the break to reflect $625 in winnings. But you're far from through, as it takes 2 games to win the match and earn a trip to the coveted Gambit Board. After this quick time out, Michael will have a chance to play the Beat the Dealer game for a $2,500 bonus prize. The fun's just getting started so stay tuned!

(applauding & cheering) Back here on GAMBIT PM where Michael Clifford from my home state of New Jersey just won $2,450 and the first game of our match. The first game winner gets to play a mini-bonus game, a new feature on Gambit PM, called Beat the Dealer. Using the same cards from the deck, Lynn will deal a card to you Michael, then a hole card for herself, then she'll deal you a second card and finally an up card for her hand. If you are able to beat the dealer Michael, you will win the Beat the Dealer Jackpot. Today the Jackpot is worth... (clang) $2,500 in cash. Now if you and the dealer tie, you will receive $1,000. If the dealer beats you, or if you go over 21, you do not win any bonus money at all. The dealer must hit on all hands 16 and less, and must stand on all hands 17 and above. Lynn, please deal up the cards.... Michael, you're at 16, a rather perilous number, especially considering Lynn has an 8 plus who knows what? Michael you may elect to freeze or take another card, keeping in mind if the next card is more than 5, you will bust and the game will be over. What do you want to do, freeze or take another card? Audience, what should Michael do? (various suggestions being yelled)

Well, basic strategy says that I should hit, but I think Lynn is going to end up busting, so I will freeze.

I know at the casino I would probably have opted to surrender. Fortunately that's not a decision you had to make here And although basic strategy does come into play, intuition does too. Let us find out right now if Michael's instincts proved accurate. If Lynn's next card is a 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King or Ace, no bonus money for you Michael. Lynn, let's see what that hole card is now. (applause) So far so good. Lynn must take another card as she is under 17. Lynn - Thank you Bill, no wonder I get carded all the time! (audience chuckles and applauds) Actually Lynn is.....well nevermind. Let's just hope that she goes over 21 here. Lynn, time to card yourself... www.fileswap.com/dl/RhdqZohcIW/sc-buzz.mp3.html TOO MUCH! And Michael wins $2,500! picosong.com/3zeF/Well Michael, already you're near $5,000 in cash winnings, and are half way to becoming our first ever Gambit PM champion. So far our first episode of Gambit PM is off to a flying start. We had a 21 in our very first game, and we had our very first "Beat the Dealer" mini bonus game also won. Matt, you need to win this game to tie up the match, otherwise it will be Michael who gets to go to the Gambit Board for a chance to win a bundle more. A reminder to our players and viewers, we're still using the same 52 card deck, so any cards that have already been played are out of the deck. Knowing which cards are already out may help you out... In the meantime, let's see the first card for Game 2 of this match, Lynn... For an 8 of Diamonds... 19th century author Mark Twain was better known as Samuel Clemens. What was his middle name? Matt?
