With Press Your Luck on hiatus, I'm going to open the floor for the Trebek version of Double Dare as a one-time special. Since it premiered 40 years ago this month, I chose now to start. A few things to consider:
Due to the usage of isolation booths on the actual show, this will be a PM-heavy game. In the upfront part, I will use PM to communicate with the two players on answering, revealing clues if necessary and deciding to take Dares or Double Dares.
When clues are revealed, you will be given 48 hours to either send a buzz code from 1-100 or pass. The next clue will be given if both contestants pass or the 48-hour deadline is exhausted. In the case of the latter, there is no penalty for missing a deadline but passing is preferred since it moves the game along faster.
I'm pretty much tempted to play the entire Beat the Spoilers round in PM and posting the result when the ending has been decided.
The payouts are as follows:
$500 for: -Correct answers. -A correct answer on a Dare.
$1,000 for: -A successful Dare. -A correct answer on a Double Dare. -Each clue that stumps a spoiler in Beat the Spoilers. -Any spoiler who identifies the subject.
$2,000 for: -A successful Double Dare.
It takes $5,000 to play Beat the Spoilers. The grand prize for Beat the Spoilers is $100,000. If all three spoilers identify the subject, they each win $5,000.
I will need five participants: two contestants and three spoilers. Who's in?

(opening theme, cheers and applause)Harvey: Take a risk! Take a chance! Take a dare! Play the game ooooooof... And now, here is your Double Dare host, the one true successor to Alex Trebek, just ask anyone: Kevin Kolsen! Me: Hello! Thank you, Harvey. Welcome to Double Dare, the original show where daring for dollars gets you double. We were kind enough to have the announcer from that later show on here just to prove that point. We have two contestants ready to match their wits and their guts as they vie for a spot against the spoilers and $100,000. What do you say we meet them? In the isolation booth to my left, we have a contestant by the name of David. Tell us about yourself, David.

That's good to hear. Thank you, Matt. Gentlemen, in a moment, I'm going to present you with a series of clues related to a person, place or thing. They get easier as we go along and if you think you can identify what we're talking about, hit that buzzer in front of you. When you do this, you will lock your opponent out and keep him from hearing your answer. If you're correct, you will have an opportunity to take a Dare with the next clue in hopes that you can stump your opponent even further. You win $500 for a correct guess, $1,000 for a successful Dare and $2,000 for a successful Double Dare. Be careful, though, because if your Dare or Double Dare is unsuccessful, your opponent gets half the value. It takes $5,000 to play Beat the Spoilers for $100,000 and without further ado, let's get started. I will tell you our first subject for the purpose of categorization is a person. Here is the first clue. *wind-up SFX*"HE CONSIDERED A CAREER IN BROADCASTING BEFORE DEVELOPING A SEVERE CASE OF 'MIC FRIGHT'." If you think you have it with this clue, PM a buzz code from 1-100. Otherwise, PM the word pass. If I don't receive a PM within 48 hours, it's an automatic pass.

*buzzer, audience groans*Sorry, Matt. That answer is incorrect. What we'll do now is lock you out while we bring David back. *wind-up*Here's what happened, David. Matt gave an incorrect answer. As a penalty, I will give you the next clue while Matt's booth is shut. This is a free guess which means no penalty if you're wrong. When you receive the clue via PM, you may give your answer.

*buzzer, audience groans*David, your answer is also incorrect. Let's bring Matt back out here. *wind-up*Matt, you lucked out. David also gave an incorrect answer. The difference is Matt will never get to see Clue #7. Let's see the next clue: *ding*Keep in mind, I can only give ten clues. This is your last chance to induce a double dare situation.

*buzzer, audience groans*That's incorrect, Matt. We have to close your booth again so David can get another penalty clue. *wind-up*David, Matt gave another incorrect answer so you will hear another clue that he will not receive. Check your inbox.

*buzzer, audience groans*No, that's also incorrect. We have to bring Matt back. *wind-up*Matt, you're in luck. David also gave an incorrect answer to that penalty clue. He still has the benefit of receiving those two penalty clues. This is the situation right now. There is one more clue to be revealed and that means no dare or double dare situations can come from this subject. The contestant closest to the buzz code on this tenth and final clue will win the first $500 of the game with the correct answer. Here it is: *ding*

*ding-ding-ding, applause*Mark Goodson is correct for $500! That may have been the last clue but it's still worth some money to you. You lead Matt $500 to nothing as we break for commercial here on Double Dare. We'll be back with another subject after this! *main theme, cheers and applause**fade to commercial*

Welcome back to Double Dare! We made it through our first subject. Couldn't get the answer until the very end but I'm sure David will take it since he now has $500. I will tell our contestants that the category for our second subject is a thing. Remember that as we show you Clue #1: *wind-up*
