Hi all.
So I got a call yesterday at 5pm from Geek Squad saying my computer was ready to be picked up.
Thankfully, before they discharged it, they hooked it up to make sure it was working well.
Unfortunately, it was running even slower.
They removed a lot of dust and other stuff from it, however, it seems the hard drive was still extremely sluggish, so they had to check it back in again.
I may need a new hard drive, but I may elect to just say forget it, and purchase a new tower.
The good news is they were able to back up all of my files, including my artwork, so I SHOULDN'T have to redo them all again when I do get a new machine, or if they are somehow able to restore my old one.
My tower is almost 8 years old now, so it is not surprising that it's on its last legs. Also it runs on Vista, which after April 11th 2017, will no longer be supported by Microsoft, so by then I'll need a new machine anyway.
I can continue as a contestant, but my three games that I am currently hosting will remain on hold until I get my old machine back, or get a new machine altogether.
