ME: Get this right, and you will indeed have the vertical block. Here's your question on NATIONAL PARKS.
A highlight of visiting this national park is a ride on the natural gas-powered buses called "Red Jammers." These buses travel across the Continental Divide as they approach the Canadian border on "Going to the Sun Road." For the block...name this Montana national park.

Well, I've only heard of one park that's in Montana, Is it Glacier National Park?

ME: You do realize that your goal is to answer questions, not to ask them? (Laughter) I'm kidding! That's right! (Applause...BONG-BONG!) Wow, we've got a back-and-forth game here. Three boxes left. Let's shuffle for Marc. (Shuffle effects) ME: Marc - THE STAGE, CHEMISTRY, or 1990s NEWS?

Chemistry to block.

ME: Get this right for a diagonal block.
Coming from the Greek for "equal place," this term denotes a variant of a chemical element in which the number of neutrons is different from the number of protons. One such example, Carbon-14, has 6 protons and 8 neutrons. For the box, give me the term for this variant.

ME: Good job, Marc! (Applause...BONG-BONG!) We have $4,000 in the pot, and it all comes down to the center column. This next shuffle could decide the fate of the game. Let's shuffle for Frank, please. (Shuffle effects as split screen shows Frank watching the center column) (Audience reacts with very loud shock) ME: Oooof. My, oh my, Frank. Can't say I envy you in this position. What would you like to choose?

Well, I guess I have to choose TAKE 2
|
|
|
Post by jmdarrall on Sept 11, 2016 10:31:57 GMT -5
ME: Here's how TAKE 2 works. I'll give one clue about a subject to both of you. Frank, you will then decide if you want to answer or hear the second clue. If you opt to hear the second clue, Marc will decide who answers. If either of you gives a wrong answer, the other player will get to hear the other clue, if needed, and take a guess. Obviously, a right answer gets the box. Frank, for you, that would mean an EXTREMELY important block. Marc, for you, that would mean your third Tic Tac Dough. Ready?
(Both players nod their heads in agreement)
ME: The subject we need is a FAMOUS LANDMARK. Here is clue #1.
During the American Revolution, it was taken down, for fear that the British might have taken it and melted it down for munitions. It was then effectively smuggled to nearby Bethlehem, where it spent one year under the floor boards of a local church.
ME: That was your first clue. FRANK, do you think you can name the landmark, or do you need the second clue? Keep in mind that a second clue gives Marc the honor of deciding.

I'm gonna go for it. Is it the Liberty Bell?

Post by jmdarrall on Sept 11, 2016 19:29:30 GMT -5
ME: Frank.... ME: ....IT IS (Applause)! Nicely done, as we add an O and $500 (BONG-BONG!). The Liberty Bell was indeed the answer. Very big block for Frank, as it makes it impossible for Marc to get Tic Tac Dough. Frank, it is still possible for you to win, though, so the game will continue. Marc, however, will be in control. Since there's only one box left, whatever shuffles into it will automatically be yours. Let's shuffle. (Shuffle effects) ME: The category is THE NAME'S THE SAME. Marc, get this right for a draw game. A game show host with a career that's spanned four decades shared his last name with the outspoken Texas Congressman nicknamed "Mr. Democrat." Their first names, respectively, were Gene and Sam. For the block and a draw game.....what was their shared last name?

ME: Gentlemen, we have a draw game (Applause...BONG-BONG!)!
ME: As you can see by the board, there is no way to make a Tic Tac Dough. What we will do momentarily is clear the board, give you nine new categories, build up the pot further, and raise the stakes. For the meantime, though, we'll take a short break. Stay with us! (Theme plays as Marc and Frank shake hands and chat at their podia)

ME: Welcome back to Tic Tac Dough. Before we begin Game 2 of this tie series, I want to remind everyone that any contestant who defeats 5 opponents in a row, at any time, will win a special reward. Jim Thornton, tell us about it! (Car Cue plays) JIM: It's a new SMART CAR! The Smart Fortwo Passion Coupe combines comfort, durability, performance, and excitement into one tight package. Comes with all standard features. This prize is worth SIXTEEN THOUSAND, ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY DOLLARS ($16,140)! ME: Marc, you are already 40% of the way there. Frank, you could very well achieve that, too. Now, as we play on, we will be building off that $5,000 pot. We've also increased the stakes - each box is worth $750, except the center, which is worth $1,500. Also, you will play with nine new categories, and here they are! (Board reveal effects) ME: The categories are COMEDY FILMS, which will be our visual category; ISLANDS; MATH; WILD WEST; ART & ARTISTS; CALL MY BLUFF; SEESAW; VILLAINS; and FOREIGN WORDS & PHRASES. Explanation of the red categories: in CALL MY BLUFF, you'll try to fool your opponent into judging or misjudging your answer, while in SEESAW, the two of you will go back-and-forth on a question with many different answers. ME: All formalities are done, so let's play. Marc, you make the first selection, please.

ME: OK, not deviating from your last game strategy, huh? Here's the question on that topic.
Although diplomats enjoy immunity from arrest and other forms of persecution, they can still be punished for violating the laws of nations hosting them by refusing to accept their mission or banning entry outright. This practice is referred to by a three-word Latin phrase meaning "person not appreciated." In more generic circles, this phrase can refer to any unwelcome or unwanted person. For the box, tell me that phrase.

ME: OK, going for the left center box. Let's see how that works out for you.
We all know that the Pythagorean Theorem in geometry states that "A squared plus B squared equals C squared." By definition, the side length represented by C is always this side, the longest side of any right triangle. For the box, what is that side called?

ME: Center box question, now worth $1,500. You'll get some extra time to consider your answers.
Napoleon Bonaparte's life started on an island, and it ended on a different island. I'll describe both of these islands, and you name them.
1. In 1769, Napoleon was born in the town of Ajaccio, on this Mediterranean island. 2. In 1821, Napoleon died in the village of Longwood, on this South Atlantic island that was the site of his second exile.
ME: Here's your extra time (Extra time cue plays.....BONG!). Marc, name the islands on which Napoleon was born and died. Remember to give the numbers with the answers.

ME: Get this right, and you'll have a diagonal block.
Born Martha Jane Canary, she was a scout, performer, dance-hall girl, and prostitute in her years roaming the Wild West. Although alcoholic and illiterate, she told remarkable tales of fighting Native Americans as a storyteller in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. She got her nickname for her devil-may-care ways, but showed great compassion to those in need. For the block....name this noted frontier woman best known for being buried next to Wild Bill Hickok.
