With the recent and unexpected death of Robin Williams, I thought I would make mention of a very important date in American History, that of August 16th.
In 1948, on August 16th, George Herman "Babe" Ruth, only 53 years old, died. He is synonymous with baseball and the New York Yankees.
Some 29 years later, Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977. He was only 42 years old. Elvis was born in January 1935. My father was born in March 1935. Less than 11 months after Elvis' death, my father, who was a Yankees fan, would pass away suddenly and unexpectedly, on Saturday, July 15, 1978.
My Dad loved games, especially card games. Not too long before he died, during the first part of July 1978, he taught me the card game "Acey Deucey". It wasn't until a few years ago that I did a lot of mock trials and came up with the current game of "Split Decision", which I was very proud to have presented to you over on Big Jon's, and now am equally proud to present to you here at NetGameCentral.
Many great entertainers died so very young, and sadly, in all of these cases, Babe Ruth, Elvis Presley, Robin Williams, and even my dear old Dad, their deaths more than likely were preventable. In all of these cases, not taking proper care of themselves early on in life, or later on in life, or both, contributed to these individuals leaving us far too soon.
So yesterday, August 16th, 2 people who are extremely famous in American history died, Babe Ruth & Elvis Presley.
Thank you for allowing me to share a few personal notes about myself with you all.
Best,
Bill
