I feel lost. Most of the time when I see the celeb obits, I just shrug and move on. I can't do that this time. I can't believe that one of the best comedians ever is just gone. The man was an absolute legend, and hearing that he took his own life is absolutely heartbreaking. RIP, Robin - Heaven is shining a bit brighter today. This is as good a time as ever to bring this up - if you or someone you know is considering suicide, GET HELP. The resources are out there, please please PLEASE use them.

This was indeed a tremendous shock. I was in Wildwood, sitting on the bed when my wife found the news out online. I remember jumping up out of bed in utter disbelief. My son, who loved the movie "Jumanji" was also in shock.
Two of my family members died due to suicide. One was one of my brothers-in-law back in 2011. The other was my very beloved Uncle, so beloved in fact, that he served as Best Man in my wedding. My Uncle was somewhat like Robin in that he would always be the "clown", but hidden behind that mask was a very depressed and burned out man.
In Robin's case, from reports I read, he was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease. Allegedly the medication(s) Robin was taking had a possible side effect of suicidal thoughts and/or tendencies. I suppose more will come out about this in the coming days and weeks.
In my Uncle's case, he truly had a most difficult life. I won't go into any more detail than that.
I will, however, echo Tony's words. If you feel so depressed that you have suicidal thoughts, please reach out for help. This life can prove to be so overwhelming at times, but with the proper help, one can also have a very happy and fulfilling life. This little game show hosting/net game site is a source of tremendous joy for me, and I have many others too.
So don't be afraid to reach out if you, or somebody you know or love, is feeling that way. Robin Williams and my Uncle both masked it too well, especially from themselves.
