The most popular card game is finally coming to NGC Channel 2, the brand spanking new, UNO!
If you have any ideas how this can be modified to suit a quiz/gameshow then you're more than welcome to help!
Here's my example of a format: (Uses one deck of cards.)
Three players, each get a starting bank of $500, the deck stripped of all 0, reverse and Wild Draw 4's (only to suit the fairness) and a starting penalty for every time a player draws a card from the deck is $50.
MAIN GAME (Regular UNO game):
Each player gets seven cards to make a hand, they must not be shown (Unless it's televised, the viewers gets to see what cards they have) . A toss up question is asked and the first player to buzz in with the correct answer gets to go first. Then plays from left to right.
During a contestant's turn, they can:
1. Place a card with the same colour or
2. Place a card with the same number, changing the colour if possible.
3. If niether of these are possible, they are forced to draw a card and lose money from their bank depending on which round they are in.
After each round, the penalty goes up by $50.
Only three colours have a special effect.
GREEN: Adds $100 X Face Value to their bank.
BLUE: Gets a PRIZE added to their Prize Mountain.
RED (STEAL): They can steal between $50 to $200 or a PRIZE from an opponent.
YELLOW: Neutral, nothing happens.
WILD: Should a WILD card be placed, they must answer another question correctly to earn a bonus $250. Whenever right or wrong, the same rules with wild cards apply as well as SKIP and DRAW 2 (DRAW 2 cards won't make players lose money.)
Whenever one or more has only one card left (That's UNO! and it's doesn't matter if you say it or not.), they can win the Main Game and Earn a cash bonus of $2,500.
The contestant with the least amount of money is out but only loses the money, not the prizes.
HEAD TO HEAD
The two players will face off in a poker style round, deciding who will move on to the UNO Finale.
Again using same deck as the main game but no SKIP or DRAW 2 cards and only 1 WILD Card is used....
The object of this poker decider is to have the highest ranking hand of 5 cards. There are questions. as with the toss up, first to buzz correctly gets to pick a card from the 37 face down cards on the board, the very first card of this round is revealed and they must decide to keep the card shown or pass it to the other player. The rest of the cards are not revealed until the decision is made on each one.
As soon as they both have 5 cards each, whoever has the highest hand gets a cash bonus and the highest grand score goes onto the UNO Finale.
UNO Finale
The deck uses the 36 numbered cards without any zeros and 8 STOP cards, they must try to get the starting 21 to 0 to win $10,000, if they can get 1 exactly (UNO) they win the UNO Jackpot starting at $25,000.
Champions stay on up to 3 shows.
