I found this out on Facebook this afternoon after I arrived home from work.
The PDFs for June 20 to 26 are published, and out of the blue, The $25,000 Pyramid returns on June 20, replacing the second airing of Perry's Card Sharks, which I suspect was a placeholder, as I think GSN may have still been in negotiations to acquire fresh Pyramid episodes when the last lease expired.
And guess where they're starting from? The 1982 premiere!
It makes sense, since the last lease (which expired in May) did include the finale. But nevertheless, these 1982-1983 episodes have not been shown on GSN in roughly 15 years, and this is a real treat for those who have not had a chance to view and record them back in the early 2000s.
Assuming leases of Sony-owned shows contain 200 episodes, and taking Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday and Rose Bowl Parade pre-emptions into consideration, plus barring skipped episodes, I would guess this limited run will take us through late-June 1983.
Maybe the lease after this one might include the late-1983 and some episodes from 1984 - the only untapped year from the series that GSN never aired as yet.
This is a step in the right direction in terms of fresh classics on GSN. Looks like classic game shows are here to stay for a while longer.

Wow, this is news to me. I thought all GSN aired anymore was "Baggage" "Idiotest" and 20 hours of Steve Harvey.

Wow! How amazing is this! I had a feeling that The $25,000 Pyramid was coming back to GSN. Perhaps this was to coincide with the new $100,000 Pyramid series that will debut on ABC this summer with Michael Strahan as host.
Also, I thought that once Buzzr debuted, all Fremantle-owned shows (Press Your Luck, Card Sharks, Match Game, etc.) would move there from GSN, but so far, that has not been the case either.

I think Buzzr is airing episodes of shows that GSN aired in the last five years or so. Buzzr is airing episodes from part of the first season oF Press Your Luck, while GSN is airing episodes from the final season (except for the final three months at this point). It may be possible that some of the episodes of Match Game 78 currently on Buzzr is also part of GSN's current package (which could imply that Buzzr uses the studio masters, while GSN acquires the CBS copies).

It baffles me why GSN doesn't tap more into the massive collection of Sony owned classic game shows and show them on a more regular basis like Wheel (especially Daytime episodes), Jeopardy, Pyramid, The Joker's Wild, and Tic Tac Dough. Even if these shows were only shown once or twice a day just to break the stupid monotony of Steve Harvey Family Feud.
