I was born November 11, 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. I attended Westlane Middle School and North Central High School in Indianapolis and Grahm Junior College in Boston, Massachusetts. My early careers were as a radio disc jockey and a stand-up comedian; although in 1973, I reportedly acted as substitute announcer on The Joker's Wild. No evidence of this has popped up anywhere, though. My career boosted in 1986, when Nickelodeon hired me as the host of a game show. I gave the following rules spiel for five years: (quote) "I'm going to ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, or think the other team hasn't got a clue, you can dare them to answer it for double the dollars. But, be careful, because they can always double dare you back for four times the amount, and then you'll have to either answer that question or take the physical challenge." (close quote) I have also hosted many other game shows, but I will always be known for that particularly sloppy one. Ironically, I've been diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and Rosebud was the name of Citizen Kane's sled.
